>What is Dungeon Synth?
Dungeon Synth is a genre of music characterized by its strong use of atmosphere and melody to create a sonic reality usually pertaining, in concept, to the fantastic or historical periods. The genre draws influence from the Dark Ambient music genre, while encompassing musical structures that are relatable to medieval and folk music."

>>69697412
>>69697228
Sounds like the OST to generic 80's action/fantasy flicks
I'd rather listen to actual folk music
>>69697449
got me all draped up in bedsheets playing wizard
"march of the grey legion" has a perfect electro-flute sound
>>69697636

That picture is great haha.
>>69697636
It's less camp, more kvlt.
>>69697862
I fucking love medieval art, it's seriously the weirdest shit. Like when you realise they didn't understand how animals had their own facial features, so all their cats and dogs and horses and shit had these dumb human faces
>>69698031
It's weird to think that the notion of perspective in art had to be "pioneered" or "discovered" when it feels so natural to us now
>>69698031
>cats with human features
oh man this is off-topic but I can't resist to post this BONA FIDE MASTERPIECE (actually the rest of the painting is ok, but that cat ...)
>>69698086
That nose holy fuck
Also Temple Forest is an album I'll never tire of
>>69698113

Jesus Christ
>>69698060
Like the Mona Lisa being one of the first pieces of art to show emotion and personality though the physical appearance of the subject. It's hard to not see that as common sense.
>>69698211
Get Soulseek brah. Then if you like the album buy it on cassette.
>>69698247
>Soulseek
Ah, I've been meaning to check that out, thx
>>69698172
Definitely more on the ambient end. Very sparse. Hate forest makes some great bm too

That haunting mid section of the first track gets me every time
recommend me some Hard DS
>>69699242
Sorry for the question, but what is a Hard DS?
Poseurs. If you weren't listening to this stuff on cassette in the 90s you aren't real DS fans
>>69699288
most of this stuff is kind of slow droney ambient. I'm talking about the medieval synth stuff that goes hard and is more upbeat
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUSeRK3mSxg
move aside dungeon synth, regular retro synth coming back bitches
>>69699291
So basically, it's impossible for me to be a DS fan because I'm 18?
>>69699753
yes. you weren't there
>>69699602
Thanks for the explanation
>>69699851
and where were you? Transylvania?
>>69699291
Stop trying to ruin a perfectly decent thread by creating unnecessary conflict
>>69700079
Playing OS D&D with a community of legitimate musicians who made and ripped cassettes for each other. It wasn't supposed to be albums made in one day on fruity loops shit uploaded to bandcamp. None of the guys I knew even uploaded their stuff to the modern web because that would be selling out. We never wanted to commercialize this kind of music. Mind you we didn't even call it Dungeon Synth back then, we didn't label it by a genre.
>>69700160
By that logic, nobody in the world can say they like Bach.
>>69700160
I'm sorry the world doesn't stagnate and cater to your personal aesthetic desires? What a faggot

Go ahead and listen to the cheap imitators then. Maybe someday you will realize your plastic existance
>>69700286
Dungeon synth is all about becoming lost and forgotten like all the knights of yore who died in battle.
>>69700333
Waste of trips. Anyway yeah go sulk about how other people are enjoying things incorrectly and we'll go on having fun listening to music
>>69700286
You can always screencap it
>>69698211
> I'll take "what is YouTube" for 10 please Bob
>>69700333
OK, my existence is plastic. But you aren't allowed to listen to anything but 90s DS. Which of these is better?
>>69700442
Eh just drop it m80. The dude's just trying to be incendiary
>>69697862
hate when this happens
>>69698387
when is his new album out?
>>69700961
Yeah I know.
>>69702330
Good question. There was somebody in one of these threads that spoke with HW; maybe he knows.

>>69702883
Did you post it here or there? I'm the guy who first posted about it here, but I'm not an admin, so I can't do nothing about it. If you suggest it there one of the admins will surely answer.
>>69703048
Posted it in the facebook group when someone brought up a forum. Just kind of figured this was the same group of people.
Does anyone know what kind of medieval music this roots from?

So I was just at my work Christmas do and my Secret Santa legit bought me a tank with fish in it. What are some kvlt names I can give them?
>>69705224
That's to be kind of honest a really shit gift to give to someone as a surprise. What kind of fish? Goldfish do nothing but suffer in a small tank.
>>69705224
pets are a horrible gift
>>69702739
wow this is awful. every song is exactly the same in the same key with the same two notes. learn how to play music before you go around trying to masquerade as good. you're hiding under a facade of poor recording quality and non-musical aesthetic touches.
this is actually offending me
