I get John Maus vibe from this cover

Part of me wishes he would make super damaged sounding music, but I guess he could really push it and get cleaner and cleaner and more pristine

The cover makes me think of some 70s or 80s summer horror movie. Like Sleepaway Camp or Friday the 13th.
