I loved them back when I was 10 and hybrid theory came out and I still love them now (and I hate 99% of the shit I listed to in my youth.) I literally cannot think of a single album from my youth which was more univerally enjoyed than these two. Everyone from the goths to the thugs to the pop plebs loved Hybrid Theory. These two records are basically the musical equivalent of the Nintendo 64, in the sense that anyone who acts like they weren't fun is just kind of being a pretentious dick. I'm sure a number of people will disagree, but whatever.

Not enough things being right with the song, clearly. Bowie's typical annoying vocals, almost-good melodies, instrumental tracks that all bleed into and muddle each other, the list goes on.

>One Time 4 Your Mind
>the first verse presents another characteristic stream-of-consciousness narrative lighter in tone than the previous narratives presented; it's Illmatic's lighthearted moment, we hear about Nas chilling with his homies and the shorties on the block, and watching a movie, while characteristically rooting for the villain, and spending time with his girl rather than hearing about more of the violence that goes on so often in the projects; it also serves as a nice change in tone from the foreboding narrative at the end of the previous track
>the second verse contains what is probably the most dense bar in terms of internal rhyming Nas spits on Illmatic, a little bit on how rhyming kept him out of crime, a little bit on the relationship between QB ad other hoods, and a boast that's cleverly woven together through car-related imagery, and ends with a nice throwback to his debut on Live At The Barbeque
>also, that smooth jazzy beat and Nas' smooth flow to match
It's a pretty good song m8

I don't know m8, I think the song is pretty good, especially since the MC's contribution, is so great for the reasons I described. The slow tempo beat suits the "just chillin" atmosphere the lyrics present very well; there aren't really any hard hitting drums to suit the lax temperament Nas shows. What don't you like about it? And please don't just say it's boring.

>"Depends on my mood"
Whoa. I'm in the select group of two or three anons who has acceptable music taste.
>>
>>69695852
They didn't have a single good album and Charlie Freak is their only great song
>>
>>69695852
You have Can't Buy a Thrill, Pretzel Logic, and Countdown to Ecstasy to choose from and you pick the one with fucking Peg, among others?
>>
>>69695832
I've never had a problem with it, personally, but music is different for everyone I guess. I just love the album so much that I'll defend every song on it to the death no matter what; I genuinely think they're all amazing tracks.
>>
>>69695902
Its the best album to listen to in entirety. Every single album they have is excellent, but Aja is the one I can listen to the entire way through, at any time, without wanting to skip a song.
>>
>>69695901
>They didn't have a single good album
>Steely Dan
gr8 b8
>>
>>69695852
Correct on all counts.

>>69695901
Do It Again is a classic. I've never heard a Steely Dan track that I wasn't on good terms with.

My condolences.
>>
>>
>>69696009
I know, I wish I didn't feel the need to listen to their later albums to confirm they never got better and actually worse
>>
>>69696002
You poor bastard. I feel bad for people who are so focused on trolling randos on the internet, that they go out of their way to hate and ignore things most people love.

You can let down your facade, we won't judge you.
>>
>>69690863
I agree, you couldn't remove a track from this, every so g is essential
>>
>>69694204
You can't say no without citing the bad tracks
>>
>>69696015
yoni is the most stereotypical hipster pseud i've come across in music to date

there are worse things to be though, he's alright
>>
>>69696033
I'll say a prayer for your tastes.

>>69696042
Wanna bet ?
>>
>>69696038
It's me who was trolled, into thinking there was something worth listening to
>>
One of the best albums of all time. Even if you hate whiny, nasally singers like Axl, for the composition alone this album is amazing.
>>
>>69696074
forgot pic. Just think, this was a fucking debut album.
>>
>>69694126
Actually I agree. For what it is, its excellent. my faves are definitely kerplunk and insomniac, but any are listenable if you are in that mood.

That first lick in 2000 light years away sets the tone for all of kerplunk and its amazing.
>>
>>69695909
i think that for the first 4

Smell My Picture, Bunny Boy, and Mush Room were better than most albums released at the time, even by /mu/ standards
>>
>>69695823
I miss the times when namefags were baiting with some creativity and didn't go down the most cheapest way to bait some one, come on man.
>>69695889
The cover perfectly represents the concept of the albums, it's dirty.

All of these are classics from start to finish Not one bad song in the bunch!

I'm sure those who posted these albums will disagree with my choice but pic related is right up there with what these people posted IMHO!

>>69695902
What have you got against Peg? Or the whole Aja album for that matter? As far as I'm concerned that album is a classic although I'm a huge Steely Dan fan who doesn't think they ever put out a bad album ever!
