That was a good record, but I felt as though it had the potential to be a lot better. Whatever, Wriggle scratched my clipping itch enough so that this was not an entire dissapointment

For me, it has got to be Gensho

As someone who actually finds himself enjoying some jazz here and there, I found BBNGs latest effort to be unlistenable. Musically dull, which is generally hard to do with jazz.
>but they are a le hip hop group
even so, some DJ could sample much better jazz than them, and it would sound better.

all in all the album was bad bad not good

Wut

I literally don't understand this criteria at all if I'm even understanding your point.
>>
>>69682800
It's bad jazz and bad hip hop. That's my point. It fails at being good hip hop because a DJ could do better, it fails at being good jazz because the solos lack emotion or depth.
>>
>>69682859
>because a DJ could do better
Literally what

Bbng are original compositions, yes?

I seriously have absolutely zero idea what the correlation is between bbnv 4 and a "dj"
>>
>>69682894
Yes, and as noted in the criticism of their "Jazz" section, their original compositions are dull

>>69683838
Solange is basically Interludes: The Album. I know the statement she's trying to make, but it gets in the way of the actual music, some of which is pretty damn great.

Tribe is good but i think people are seriously getting carried away with it being "as good as their first 3 albums". it's good but not THAT good.

Beyonce is a 6/10. Which still makes it her best work by light years.

TLOP is... weird. it's a disaster of an album that happens to include 4 or 5 of the best songs he's ever made.

Coloring Book is 2nd only to Painting With for biggest disappointment of the year. That shit is just way too fucking cheesy.

literally doesn't always mean literally you pedantic fuck
is english not your first language?
have you ever read a book before?
do literally have autism?
if you can't see how the meaning of a word evolves over time as is the nature of an organic method of communication such as L - A - N -G - U -A - G -E it's not surprising that you don't understand why I said you literally posted the same top 10 as pitchfork
let me break it down for you
literally
ˈlJt(ə)rəli/
adverb
adverb: literally

in a literal manner or sense; exactly.
"the driver took it literally when asked to go straight over the roundabout"
synonyms: verbatim, word for word, line for line, letter for letter, to the letter; More
exactly, precisely, faithfully, closely, strictly, strictly speaking, accurately, rigorously;
rareliteratim
"their name, translated literally, means ‘the river’"
antonyms: loosely, imprecisely, metaphorically
informal
used for emphasis while not being literally true.
"I have received literally thousands of letters"

i was obviously saying that you literally have the same shit taste as every literally shit critic on pitchfork as you literally posted the same utter shite they literally posted in their list so you literally have bad taste and literally don't know it which astounds me as i literally just told you that you have abhorrent taste on par with only literal retards and pseudo intellectuals such as yourself
you're not smart
you don't have good taste
you aren't better than anyone
you're not even better than yourself

Corey Feldman is not without its moments and even at its worst it's quite endearing. Does it ever even get painful? Maybe it's length can be exasperating but that's about it. As I recall Babyfather and Rob Zombie were more difficult to hear and without subsequent reward.

probably elseq. a lot of the good music this year has been singles or eps it seems. like burials new ep, nightmarket is quite amazing, sounds like ambient breakcore with how he chops up his songs.
>>
>>69695562
>>69695189
>>69695163
All he's saying is that the vast majority of music was released outside of the current year, and therefore most of the good music was also released outside of this year. Also, time has a way of weeding out over-hyped albums and you can find better albums that way as well. I fall into the same trap though and the vast majority of what i listen to is new.

I've just listened to a lot of old albums already and I like to check out new stuff. What's wrong with that? It's a 2016 thread, why would I post anything other than this year I've heard?
>>
>>69695609
All he's saying is if you've listened to that many albums from 2016, you're probably neglecting older music.
>>
>>69695622
Do you have rym?

So why don't you just post your rym with maybe a little text sample? Only half suggesting, just curious.
>>
>>69695691
And make them go all the way to my account and scour for my ratings for the year? I could link them to the top 100 list I guess but I like to post all my ratings because I'm equally interested in the people talking about the albums I hate to me and maybe telling me how to get into them as the ones who have similar taste to me. Better than just posting Blackstar and Atrocity Exhibition like that have been posted 400 times without sparking much conversation
>>
>>69695705
Ah gotcha, I'm not very familiar with how Rym works. I thought there was a simple filter for year like there is on the general charts. That's weird there isn't.

You guys do realize the album is a 20th century phenomenon? It literally only existed because of the limitations of physical distribution. If you are still listening to albums you are behind the fucking times, $orry
>>
>>69697141
This is such a ridiculous mindset. An album is literally just a collection of songs released in a package, and it's still an album by any other name. It won't be dying any time soon. Compilations, greatest hits, just random congregations of tracks, it's all albums or mixtapes.
>>
>>69697169
>package.
Exactly. No one buys music in a package anymore. In fact I don't think many people even buy music. By the year 2k16 you should really be thinking in terms of mixes - not mixtape btw, again an antiquated concept. Psh - what was I thinking posting on a board whose most modern fascination is literally called "post-civil"! Enjoy your nostalgia trip!
>>
>>69697169
Why even respond to him?
>>
>>69697198
Because I'm right. The concept of an album is completely based on distribution methods that are no longer relevant. If you want to discuss modern era music, you are better off discussing mixes and the artists themselves. That's why this board has such shit taste: you only listen to oldies, and stuff imitating oldies. Pathetic!

Nails etc. are EPs in relation to their own discography. For end of the year comparisons of literally every single release in existence the terms EP and LP are specically about length and apply to everyone.
>>
>>69699057
There has never been a concrete definition of what length makes an EP. It's up to the artist.

Also the only nails EP was Obscene Humanity, the two previous releases were also LPs.

I saw Candy Claws on tour for Ceres and Calypso a couple years back, and I got to see them again early this year on their tour for Nostalgia for Infinity. I got the chance to talk to Ryan for a few minutes before the show, and he said he recognized me from the last tour. It was a really nice experience.
