good
Please explain me I don't get what's good about this

It's a slow building, often repetitive, but constantly evolving album that's builds incredible walls of sound.
Not really everyone's thing.

It's about tension building, and creating huge walls of sound.
Some of my favorite musical moments are on tracks like The Glowing Man where it builds and swirls, and pummels you down with sound, and then it hits this fast moving and jamming riff that I just can't help but crack a huge smile. Similar things happen on Frankie M and Cloud of Unknowing, however overall these kinds of grooves are a lot less prominent than on TBK. Of course there are also some just really interesting arrangements and atmospheric sounds on here, like in Cloud of Forgetting and The World Looks Red/Black.
It's probably going to sound pretentious as hell, but try to look at each track less as a traditional "song" and more of a "journey" of flowing, evolving sounds. I feel lots of people, especially newer fans coming from To Be Kind (which was a much "heavier" groove-based album) are searching to much for those grooves to bump to like they may have found on TBK, and end up frustrated or bored. This album is more of about tension and atmosphere building before finally smashing you in the face.
I didn't fully appreciate this album, and thought it much weaker than the other nu-Swans albums, until I saw it live. Just try and lose yourself in the moment, turn it up extra loud and try and feel the evolution of the music.
I hope i didn't come off to pretentious, but I really do think that what Swans have done the past few albums is truly special, and would like to help others love it the way I do.
do you like other swans albums?
My favourite music related moment this year was was hearing The Glowing Man live.
That was fucking intense.

Do you like Swans in general?
>>69643089
No, but this was my first encounter with them. I haven't heard anything else besides this album
>>69643292
listen to "To Be Kind" and "The Great Annihilator." those were the albums that helped them click for me
>>69643292
To Be Kind is the most accessible as far as reincarnation-Swans is concerned, but you could also try some of their stuff from the 90's thats closer to something like gothic post-punk (The Great Annihilator, or White Light From the Mouth of Infinity)

you don't sound pretentious m8, you're just talking about music in more descriptive and emotive terms than most people on here.
I have also seen them live, and that REALLY drove home for me what Swans are about. especially seeing them play the songs "Screen Shot" and "The Glowing Man"
