Also can anyone confirm talks of a new Duster album? I heard a rumour about it a while back and any information would be appreciated.

Talked to Jason and Dove in 2014 and they said it wouldn't happen. Jason's gotta be pretty fucking busy being in a huge band situated 500 miles from his home (aren't BTS/Doug still in Idaho?). And Clay is even farther from them physically. Who knows though. They've always maintained a good relationship.

Clay was supposed to rerelease Heir Kommt Der Shwartze Mond with a ninth song on it. Does anyone know what came of that?

anyone like love, claire? sounds a LOT like duster, especially the recording technique

Sounds more like Codeine or that early 90's SoCal emo band Evergreen.
>>
>>69611801
to me it sounds like a combination of duster and codeine
>>
>>69612015
Yeah, I guess I do hear Duster in there somewhere. And it sounds pretty good. But my guess is that you haven't heard this.

could someone up this or link to a download?
>>
>>69612145

wish i could, I can't even find the whole album myself
>>
>>69611533
It's pretty hilarious that shit like El Buzzard and Mohinder are on there. I understand that the dudes were in Duster and I love Mohinder, but it doesn't exactly fit with their aesthetic. People who've just heard Duster or the other bands might be pretty cheesed off. You might as well put Jenny Piccolo on there, too. ha.
>>
>>69612052

I don't really see a semblance of Duster in Evergreen.
>>
>>69612264
No, I agree. I was compariing them to Love, Claire.

>Also can anyone confirm talks of a new Duster album? I heard a rumour about it a while back and any information would be appreciated.
I talked to Albertini after a Built to Spill show in Richmond and he talked about how Duster should have made more albums and that they ended too early, and more or less they want to make a new album, though I don't think there's anything concrete happening yet (or at least then).
On a side note my bandmate had a copy of the Valium Aggelein album with him and Jason said he wished he had one, that stuck with me for some reason haha

>Capsule Losing Contact
Fuck yes that's the first Duster I ever heard and got me into them, that compilation is seriously awesome
>>69612259
I'd say that Eiafuawn fits the Duster "aesthetic" in a pretty faithful way, I don't remember many details about it but I remember liking it
>>
>>69612424
crazy, i tried to meet jason at a bts show in toronto and a guy from alex g's band said pretty much the same thing about jasons thoughts on duster. hit me in the feels.

also I don't know how to do discord invites but i'm sure some of you reading the thread missed our discord link last time. slow sporadic duster chat forever. stay tuned
>>
This is one of my least favorite albums ever
>>
>>69612424
Yeah, most everything else is psych/space/experimental/stoner rock but those two are fast hardcore punk. Mohinder is great. It's stupidly fast and has a panicked, paranoid, apocalyptic feel to it with bizarre tunings and impeccable drumming.

I wish I had the Valium Aggelein - Dweller on the Threshold cassette that came in a small box with a syringe.
>>
>>69612528
I just called him over after the show ended, I was in the front and he just walked up to us when I called. He was so real too, I know he's just a regular guy and that he feels that way about himself but it's honestly crazy the amount of idolization that Duster has built up in just the last few years or so
>>
>>69612671
yeah. I imagine they're all like that. you can sense that from the music itself too, and if you choose to delve into the lyrics. the hype is very real.

why did duster become legend
why is their lofi slowcore so much better than all the other lofi slowcore

i have been trying to isolate the quality at work here
>>
>>69614707

I've asked myself a lot. I think it's a combination of the fuzzy warm production and the accented timing they use. Also does anyone know how they got that warm fuzzy tone? did they record to tape?
>>
>>69614742
90% sure they did

my band records to tape to try for the same sound

I didn't like The Queen of Hearts at all when I first heard it, I thought the beginning was kind of slow and plodding (it kind of is). But the more I listened to it, the more I came to love the arpeggios in the middle of the song. They're just so gorgeous and uplifting, really makes you feel like you're floating. This song, and especially the arpeggios in the middle, work really wonderfully as a middle point for Stratosphere.
>>
>>69614676

no
I intermittently work or study to try to make it and then fail and become depressed and incapacitated.
>>
>>69614742
It says it right on the back of the album, they recorded a lot of it on 4 track
>>
>>69612629
>t's stupidly fast and has a panicked, paranoid, apocalyptic feel to it with bizarre tunings and impeccable drumming.
well after reading that I absolutely want to look into that hahaha, thanks

>>

I don't know why but the riff in the beginning sends chills down my spine every time. Best Phil Ek-produced track on that album by far.
>>
I started listening to Duster after Spotify decided to put a load of slowcore in my discover weekly playlist. Gold Dust was my first one, still might be my favourite but every song of theirs is really nice.
>>
>>69615677
Gravity Records (San Diego) produced some of the best art hardcore/art punk records existing in the early to mid-nineties. Anyone who likes that type of music should check out their discograpy--especially the first ~20 releases.

Pulled this pic off the sticky wikia. It's pretty good, I guess. Though, Low's Secret Name is my favorite of theirs and I believe it's very underrated. I would also include A Day Called Zero

listening to stratosphere for the first time atm. Am i crazy, or does Alex G sound almost exactly this? especially in the vocal delivery and double tracked, arpeggiated guitar
