They did, literally, define a generation. First 2 albums and B-sides are untouchable. 3rd album massively underrated. They were going through the motions for years once the 90s were over but what a fucking band.

If you haven't watched Supersonic yet, get on it. They were a legit fucking phenomena and its sad that a band of regular lads like that will never reach such heights ever again

Its all about the tunes. People slate Oasis lyrics but NG was never trying to be profound in any way and openly admits that melodies always came before lyrics or trying to be a guitar hero. His lyrics were simplistic words of hope and optimism for the masses, influenced by him coming from a shitty working class background and abusive father etc.

Ultimately, the melodies are what made them. But those lyrics spoke to a lot of everyday people. As a live act, they were a no-nonsense, cranked up to 11 rock band not to be messed with.
