I love music as much as everyone else here, but when you're studying/doing homework the best thing is silence. No Videos or TVs nearby either, it won't do anything but distract you.

All listening to music will do is occasionally pull you away from the study material. Pure silence or white noise is what's going to get the most studying done.

Videos, TV, and lyrics can distract you, but there are certain types of music that actually help me study and focus (ambient, instrumental, lyricless music). It just feels like background music, not sure how to put it in words; you're in your own zone. I used to study in silence, but I found it was easier for my mind to drift away.
