I'm trying to find hip hop that's lyrically interesting. Problem is, whenever I'm recommended hip hop that's supposed to be more lyrically refined than normal mainstream hip hop, it's still really boring, and mainly seems to revolve around "muh street life is a struggle" or "muh racism and oppression". Can anyone recommend hip hop that isn't so navel gazing and myopic lyrically?
Do you have any artists you Like? It is a hard description

I'm a casual fan of watsky but I don't listen to hip hop much
He doesn't take himself very seriously; it's kind of silly sometimes. The only album I'm really familiar with is "Nothing like the first time."
So maybe that?

You're basically just asking for white people hip-hop kid. You'll never be able to appreciate the culture and true spirit of hip-hop if you think that the true lyricists are just "muh street life is a struggle"
Scarface is what I would consider a lyricist. He's blunt, but it gets the point across well. Black Thought too.
revolves around the concept of ptsd, still has muh street life struggle tho. Pretty hard to remove that from rap when 90% of rapper grew up in the streets

I don't want "white" hip hop, just more hip hop that isn't so obsessed with race. There's just so many things one can write about, focusing on one topic (i.e. race) or a few related topics (race, crime, addiction, poverty etc.) seems silly.
