Nope, I've listened to +350 albums this year hah. I think it's fun to listen to new stuff because a lot of the time an aggregate opinion hasn't formed, so other people's thoughts are more original. I thought Ivy Tripp was pretty solid personally. Did you listen to Angel Olsen's album?

Also if you liked Desperate Journalist, you should listen to Muuy Bien's album that came out this year

Willie just is a great songwriter, and the guitar performances on that album are really fleshed out and coherent. The bass lines are also perfection

I've only got so much time, why waste it trying to figure out the best music that belongs to the generation after mine? I'd much rather explore the past where it's much easier to pick out the wheat from the chaff, because even if what you are looking for isn't popular, it's already been well-catalogued so you can find gems of all the different genres, countries and so forth

Maxinquaye is one of my favorite trip hop albums but Tension... idk man it just felt dull. The female vocals felt uninspired, and a lot of the lyrics were insubstantial and annoyingly political. There was some great production which is why it got a 5 but as whole it really didn't do much for me. On the other hand, the lush instrumentation on Colour was warm and gorgeous, and the songs were well-written
