I bought it almost by mistake back when it came out. Good times. Epic time capsule. Way more listenable than Zappa imho

Here's my fave Mercury Rev. They were never really shoegaze. At most some noise pop then dream pop.

Baker made a solo album full of collaborations (notably the Boo Radleys guitarist, if memory serves) right after he left Mercury Rev.

Worth checking if you like Boces.

In what way is Yerself Is Steam below See You On the Other Side and Deserter's Songs? I can't even really think of anything off of Boces that beats Blue and Black.
