I've discovered it while trying to listen to everything in the shoegaze flowcart. It's like Frank Zappa had debutted in the grunge age instead of the 60s.
mercury rev good band

I bought it almost by mistake back when it came out. Good times. Epic time capsule. Way more listenable than Zappa imho
Here's my fave Mercury Rev. They were never really shoegaze. At most some noise pop then dream pop.

this little dude seems to be in the

happiest place on earth: he looks so jolly & happy :|
Boces > See You on the other side = Deserter's song > Yerself Is Steam > All Is Dream >>> the rest

songs are too noisy & messy to my taste, and I can't stand Baker's voice

It's not as easy as it may seem

Baker made a solo album full of collaborations (notably the Boo Radleys guitarist, if memory serves) right after he left Mercury Rev.
Worth checking if you like Boces.
The guy seemed to be a pain in the ass, though.

Yeah this album is underrated, I really like Boces and Yerself is Steam but I think that album is overlooked

HOLESSSSSS
>>69517325
In what way is Yerself Is Steam below See You On the Other Side and Deserter's Songs? I can't even really think of anything off of Boces that beats Blue and Black.
Yerself Is Steam = The Velvet Underground & Nico
Boces = White Light/White Heat
See You On the Other Side = The Velvet Underground
Deserter's Songs = Loaded

>You will never make an album this good
But yeah. Its one of my 10/10's
Yrself is 9/10.
