Is this actually good?
Maybe.

Everything but the James Chance stuff, fucking sellout piece of shit was the worst thing about No Wave
3/4th of it.
DNA were actually a really dedicated, hard-working band with a lot of theory behind them. You can hear that complexity in what they do, with each member creating a different layer of music. Drummer Ikue Mori later became a significant avant garden composer, and guitarist Arto Lindsay became one of the most famous producers in Brazilian pop. They also shared a bassist with Pere Ubu.
Mars were complete non-musicians who were also extremely dedicated to making interesting music. They were hit and miss, but Helen Forsdale might be the best song on the whole album.
James Chance was a great performer and was classically trained, and fused his avant garde interest with his love of funk
Teenage Jesus was completely talentless

Fun fact: Descloux almost married Richard Hell. But one weekend when she was in Italy hell scored heroin from a female drug dealer and fucked her when they were high. He felt so guilty about it that he confessed the whole thing to Descloux immediately and they cancelled the wedding. Hell was so in love with her and this was so traumatic that Hell quit heroin and quit music right then and there, and he's been clean ever since.

sounds about right. I still somewhat enjoy TJ on sort of a visceral level though.
Great comp. A classic. Don't let anybody tell you different.

Lydia Lunch might be more horrible of a person than she is a musician

Teenage Jesus and the Jerks have a self-titled EP that is pretty good though.
