>>69494030
Jason Molina did a few acoustic sets that are available on archive.org. It works well for his music.

His non-acoustic and non-solo stuff is great too, has the same feel as Nick Drake's stuff IMO and depending on the album.

One of the best.
Far better than the official album, and that's saying something.
It's from a test pressing of blood on the tracks before Dylan recorded half of the songs with a band. It's mostly just acoustic guitar and bass with some light pedal steel guitar and organ here and there. It's fucking incredible.
>>69496611
Didn't he lose the original masters or something? Is that what this is? I'll have to give it a listen.
>>69496638
He never lost them but he thought the album was a bit too samey so he redid half the songs with a backing band. I like the band versions a lot too but some of these versions are just amazing. You're a big girl now, tangled up in blue and idiot wind sound especially good. Some of the lyrics are a bit different here and there too.
>>69496698
Okay, I remembered him rerecording it, but I had it mixed up with Jimi Hendrix's Axis Bold As Love where the original tapes got left in a taxi cab. Still an interesting story.
Did the New York Sessions ever have an official release?

Nirvana - Unplugged
A really rare underappreciated gem.
Comfy as fuck
>>69496698
Those sound like the alternate takes featured on his bootleg series
>>69499755
If you like that then try this too. Contemporary Scottish folk.

would it kill you to actually write the title of the album?
(Diamond Mine)
I'll do my best to avoid the obvious
Davy Graham and Shirley Collins - Folk Roots, New Routes: It has the best of both: Graham's intrincate but delicate playing and affinity for eastern interjections, Collins gorgeous vocals and banjo. Mainly traditional songs.
Roy Harper - Stormcock: Hard to argue that it's his magnum opus, it's a massive folk revival adventure and exercise in coposition and arrangements. Imagine Ys for guitar and sung by a dude. Has *some* electric guitar (Page is a guest). Amazing lyrics
John Martyn - Bless The Weather/Solid Air/Inside Out: a trilogy of sorts, this is when Martyn finds and perfects the jazzy folk he's known for. Warning: Lyrics are intensely mumbled, but I find that charming.
Current 93 - Thunder, Perfect Mind/Of Ruine Or Some Blazing Starre - The Broken Heart Of Man, All The Pretty Little Horses: Another sort-of-trilogy (strictly speaking the former and latter belong to different "trilogies"). Very melancholic and sad, spiritual (plz dont bully) and quite left-field. Has some remnants of post-industrial here and there, and Tibet's vocals are something you either love or hate. Worth the risk.
Death In June: Wall Of Sacrifice/But What Ends When Symbols Shatter?/Rose Clouds Of Holocause: Pretty much same deal as above; industrial elements here and here, the production and delivery can be a bit dispiriting and sombre, but it's part of the charm.
I'll try to think of more, this turned out to be pretty limited.

wow these are gold, and all in a row!
thank you lads

It's pretty standard on here not to do that. Would it kill you to reverse image search?
>>69500577
Oh! Massive shoutout to Vashti Bunyan's return albums, Lookaftering (2005) and Heartleap (2014). Not nearly as textured and varied in timbre and mood as her 1970 classic, but it's that skeletal, whisper-like softness that makes you fall in love with them. Very intimate and immersive sound with sweet lyrics.
Last three Vetiver albums are just magical. Check them out OP
>>69500656
I know it's standard, and it's annoying af. You already know what it's called so why not just say it?
Nice album btw
>>69500924
I get your point. Just going with the aesthetics of the board.
Yeah it's great. If you liked that then maybe have a listen to >>69499755 too.
>>69500577
thanks for taking your time to write all of that!
the descriptions really make me wanna listen to the albums
Little Kid - Logic Songs
>>69500924
because you can just reverse image search it. Why bother writing the title if the image is right there
Anything Elliott Smith
would rec his S/T as a starting point.
Chelsea Wolfe's acoustic album is also really nice.
Not acoustic guitar but think it fits into this thread pretty well.
Radiohead collaborator and has done stuff with Mikachu.

Vashti Bunyan's stuff is good.
>>69500488
I love this

Not the guy who posted, but listen to this man. It will be a life changing experience to get into Robbie Basho, I promise.
>>69500543
Not the guy who posted, but listen to his album Happy Sad. It's 12-string acoustic guitar, acoustic bass, vibraphone, congas, marimba, percussion, keyboards, and electric guitar. It's also nothing at all like the album you were initially recommended (Starsailor).
>>69503625
dude i remember finding that on mu when i was in high school and listening to it high as fuck while i rode my bike through my old neighborhood at night
it's beautiful stuff honestly, it makes you feel holy just being born from earth
