How is this album so iconic?
I never really listen to it, yet I remember the music itself almost by heart.
Because:
1. Everyone went through a grunge phase in their early teens
2. It was played to death on the radio and was extremely popular at the time
>>69458565
Even the non-singles I remember though.
Why are you asking such stupid fucking questions?
>>69458575
why are you fucking rude?
kill yourself
>>69458526
There's just something special about it. It's musical perfection.
One of the best albums of all time.
>>69458631
This.
>>69458569
Kurt just had a knack for creating music that sticks with you for life.
Personally I find his music to be the catchiest of all time.
Because Cobain mastered hooks and was catchy as fuck
>>69458526
It's so generic that the music is so predictable, you feel as if you've already heard it, common in pop music
i don't know man, the fuck you asking me for?
>>69458656
>generic
>never been anything quite like it before or since
u wot
It made grunge a commercial and cultural phenomenon internationally
kurt cobain was a musical genius, the real deal. somebody who pushed music forward as a whole.

This, don't get ahead of yourself
He did have a great unique voice though
>>69458724
>He was a mediocre musician
Technically speaking, yes.
Raw talent-wise, no, he was pretty fucking phenomenal.
>his lyrics were nonsense
Depends on how you interpret them.
I can find meaning in most of his lyrics, he may not have intended them to mean these things but I still found profound and personal meaning in them.
>it was just a case of right place, right time
This played a major role but most definitely wasn't the only thing he had going for him.
Also, what this anon >>69458839 said about his voice.
>>69458603
>why are you fucking rude?
I hope your family dies in a house fire
>>69458733
Correct answer
>>69458914
rude
>>69458656
i don't think you know what generic means
>>69458526
It was the album that popularized grunge and solidified Nirvana's place in music history.
I started singing Come As You Are reading thru this thread and I don't think I've heard it in about a decade
crayzay
>>69459729
The siren song is calling you to the depths, anon.
>>69459751
Seriously tho, can you imagine the feeling of having written a song that someone could still sing word-for-word having not even passively listened to it for 10 years? I could do it with like the entire first side of Nevermind too
/mu/ culture is fucking bullshit, let me write the hits tbqh

Then go for it anon.
Participating in hivemind mentality never did anyone any good.
>>69459729
This.
That intro just pops into my head anytime I think about Nevermind.
>>69458914
I hope your mom tries to abort you again next week using a shotgun you fucking faggot
>>69458649
>>69458655
He was just really good at writing riffs.
Nevermind is okay, but fuck Teen Spirit.
>>69458724
Not really. His taste, aesthetic, emotional sensibility, personal yet abstract lyrics encompassing the whole underground punk zeitgeist and undeniable melodic genius is what set him apart from his peers.
Because Kurt was a musical psychologist. He knew how to scientifically write music that would stay in your brain
People are just going to talk about Kurt in this thread. They are partially right, but the truth is if you compare this to Bleach it becomes very apparent that the producers and production in general probably polished the fuck out of Kurt's original work on the album.
teen spirit is literally the best nirvana song
Half the songs were played on the radio.
One of the few mainstream rock albums from the 90s that was actually pretty good.
>>69462213
This is true. However, even if you listen to the Devonshire mixes, which are more 'raw' and closer to what Kurt wanted, it is still very catchy. I think Nirvana went into the album with the intention to make it more mainstream leaning, they just didn't expect how massive it would get.
