At this price point, "hollow body" is a total gimmick.

oh, mn bro. duluth here.
yeah, don't forget it's peak season (my buddy works ups) and they sometimes get so swamped that not everything gets delivered due to DOT rules about how much they can work.
>>
>>69457146
I kind of think he just worked at guitar center or something. Like on of their major warehouses. He had a bunch of rare stuff, but they do used and vintage gear. And companies will send them demo products to try to get in the stores.
>>
>>69457175
Not really for it for the hollow body, just for playability and aesthetics
>>
>>69457182
We'll see. I'll be mildly upset at worst. I have an amp coming from PA that shipped on the same day that's confirmed in Minneapolis.

man, i love my ebony lp. GOAT dsbm guitar.

some day i ought to fucking learn about chord construction and chord types. i don't understand what the whole 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th etc. of the note means. i'm sure it's really simple and i'm just a clueless novice.
i've spent about 18 months just learning tabs and playing/writing by ear. i have no problem continuing to do that but i would love to have some basic grasp on chord theory too, i'm sure it would help.

4days isn't bad. I had a package ship from Washington state to Detroit, took days to ship after the post office had it, took almost 2 weeks. You'll get it. If you're worried about cold put it under a comforter so it comes back to normal temperature slowly. I've never had a neck warp from winter. I left a cheap strat out in my unheated garage rafters for years, still plays like shit, but no more so than it did. Like I said, Detroit. You guys, ever so slightly warmer, with lake effect snow.

im thinking of getting myself a jazzmaster; i write my own stuff (shoegaze/dreampop stuff) and record it but the lack of any vibrato on my current guitar kinda sucks. (i also just love the look and feel of these things) any current owners have anything to say about them and how they do for recording or playing live? (also hows the build quality? i carry my guitar in a old bass case because i dont have the kind of money to buy a solid case)
>>
>>69457829
definitely don't buy it just for the whammy bar m8.
worry more about the build quality and pickups, and just whether you click with the guitar or not.
>>
>>69457898
i mean thats not the only reason lol, but ive been a bit obsessive over these things lately and my old cheap epiphone is on its last legs, maybe i should go to a local guitar shop and demo one before i make a big purchase like that but i really think this guitar is for me.
>>
>>69457774
I just bought the slide two days ago, so i'm still getting used to the feel of it.

It's a glass slide btw
>>
>>69457945
>maybe i should go to a local guitar shop and demo one
if your local guitar shop has what you're looking at then i would recommend this 100%.
you can read in meticulous detail about every piece of an instrument but trial is the only failsafe way to tell if it's really what you want.

testing it in a store doesn't mean you have to buy it from that store. you can usually get good deals online if you look around a bit.
i got my epi lp second hand for like 300 bucks and it's everything i want in a guitar (for now, anyway).

Real nice chimey resonance when playing chords (especially open G shapes) that still cuts through when plugged into an amp
Even with fuzz and overdrive on it

It gives you a really unique tone whether playing you're through an amp or not but isn't as loud as a normal sized acoustic

I would say it's just a bit quieter than my travel guitar

>>69457945
basically what >>69457997 said, it's best try one out in a store first to see if you like how it feels and sounds irl. if you're looking at one of the vintage modified ones, I might just have got a dud but the lead circuit pots are shit, the bridge is damn finnicky to adjust for height, intonation, etc. the trem isn't the best quality, and theres a wire underneath the moving bridge (i think it grounds it?) whose connection comes undone after a while and causes this annoying hum that's present in all positions (but is most noticeable in the middle position). still love how it sounds and it's tweakability but so far its these things that make we wish i went for a tele instead haha

I agree that guitars shouldn't be abused or thrown about, but if they pick up a few knocks or scratched from gigging and playing then I don't have a problem with it. My MIA Strat I got back in 2004 is probably pretty worthless now with all the marks on it, but I am never going to sell it so I don't care.

Why spend all that money on a nice guitar to baby it and not enjoy it properly?
>>
>>69460603
Cheers Anon, got myself a beaten up DS-2, Big Muff and original DOD 250 Overdrive Velcro'd to a piece of plie wood for a pedal board, I play shitty grunge/noise rock with my Uni band while wearing beaten up converse and flannel shirts, and we've yet to play something that isn't a basement gig, I am living my dream
>>

i've played a affinity squier stratocaster for like 5 years now, dying to get something better and more playable. it looks like a very nice guitar

I can't imagine lugging a piece of shit case for pedals, this way its all conveniently packed with the rest of the cables in the small gym bag.

Also wish DOD pedals could be found here, I really want the milkbox compressor, one of the choruses and maybe an overdrive pedal too.
>>
>>69460677
I got all the pedals second hand
Paid £40 for the Muff and DS2
Paid £130 for the DOD 250

Also, I'd totally buy a better case but I have no case after buying pedals, and if I was gigging I wouldn't want someone to break the case, I don't really care about a piece of wood I got for free

Gibson Les Paul or and SG. Some of the lower end faded stuff is really good and very affordable, will contrast with your Strat nicely. Make sure you play one first as some people don't like the satin finish and open pore neck. Personally I think they are brilliant.

You could also go in a different direction and get a Telecaster, they sound very different to Strats and can pack some punch with the bridge pickup. Or just stick a hot rails in it.

When asked to sign the entry-forms with the customary "X", the Jewish immigrants would refuse, because they associated an X with the cross of Christianity. Instead, they drew a circle as the signature on the entry-forms. The Yiddish word for "circle" is kikel (pronounced KY-kul), and for "little circle", kikeleh (pronounced KY-kul-uh). Before long the immigration inspectors were calling anyone who signed with an "O" in place of an "X" a kikel or kikeleh or kikee or, finally and succinctly, kike.

I like the SR series because all of them pretty much have the same dimensions. I played the 506 at GC and enjoyed how the neck felt. It compared nicely with the TRBX174 I was playing at the time.
I'm about to be forming up a jazz band with a few buddies. It'll be covers for awhile as we start getting a brass section and vocal set up. God bless knowing people who went to school for music.
I myself am getting into solo work. I like the lower register of the bass, and I believe that there are still things to learn about this instrument outside of a traditionally rhythmic position.
>>

to clarify, this bass comes from special order in Japan. I played a couple different 6 strings and found the sr506. It played great so I went online and found the specs of it and it was exactly the same for the sr5006. Length, neck width and thickness.
I've been watching as many videos as possible to get acquainted with the versatility of the bass and was quite impressed. So I decided to treat myself right and spend a nice amount of money on myself for something I will enjoy.

Are you more interested in talking about guitars, or in trying to annoy me with racist memes?

Just stop and get back to topic

Fuck you.
I'm not even the person/people you've been arguing with, but you can't sit there and act like an innocent person. You made a mountain out of a molehill and derailed the thread by screaming "raaaaaycisssstssss". And now its getting spammed by some other faggot posting his dumb racist memes.
Kill yourself.

I merely made one post condemning racism initially, and the other anons are the one who made a storm about it.

Just look in this thread.
Do you honestly believe i was incorrect in my claim that some people here make blatantly racist statements and think its completely fine?

I vote no crazyaga in the next thread.

Rate my pedal board plan:

I advocated for "lets get back to topic" three times already

and here >>69462916
and here >>69462854

Despite my attempts to get this thread back to topic, it seems the other anons ignore my request to return to topic

I believe you're incorrect in thinking this is the time and place for such discussions.

You cared way, way more about your beliefs and making sure someone knew about it than staying on topic. So don't just stand back and whine about staying on topic when you just spent the last hour arguing with racist fuckheads.

In this thread, I don't care if someone wants to wipe my entire race off of the planet, I want to see their gear and trade knowledge on guitar playing.

whats the best online guitar lessons suited for someone trying to join/form a metal band?

or whats the best pathway for this goal?

I'm curious about your playing style. How come you need a 6 string? Do you focus on playing melodically or do chordal stuff? Not trying to be a dick or start an argument. I tend to just play bass rhythmically so I'm content with a 4 string. I like to hear why people choose 6+ string basses.
