what does /mu/ think of the new gambino?
it's a textbook ok album
it doesn't require further discussion.

not good. the singles are alright but everything else is meh and the singing is pretty trash

1st listen: This is beyond derivative, but the singles are stil lgood
2nd listen: I mean i guess this is just a modern take on a certain specific style. Some more songs are good
3rd listen: Yeah this shit's not bad.
Overall not a terrible thing.
redbone, baby boy and riot are great songs but if i wanted modern funk id jam something crazier like thundercat, gambino just writes great pop hooks and hits
Songs I thought were meh the first time I listened like Have Some Love and Boogieman now sound really good on the second listen. 1st listen I'd give it a 6/10 but now I'm leaning towards a high 7 or 8. Redbone is still the best track tho.

this, its like a 6
i cringed way less than with his other albums.
counts for something right?
listening for the first time, 3 songs in, really dig it. i haven't heard any of his other stuff aside from a couple singles and don't care to. but i really like this. i guess im stupid or it must really get shitty

ok yeah zombies is a fucking piece of shit garbage song. i spoke too soon

I was looking for a description like this! Its like knock off thundercat.
Its usually the 6 minute songs that are the good ones. Its like he has really good ones but they get dragged down by the rest of the album. But at least it kinda tells a story
i like the album, really tho u will probably like i more on the relisten (thats at least how it was for me)

You like Boogieman (easily the worst track) and hate Zombies? Literally what the fuck?
much better than his rap that's for fucking sure
