Don't ask nu-males' opinion on dance music. They consider dancing standing in a stationary position doing a half turn with their shoulders every few seconds and "fun music" some tacky horseass like Animal Collective that sounds like a synthesised bop-it.

They don't understand it. Anything that's not a minimalist album cover is "overdesigned" because they can't comprehend that anything that has any bite to it is like that for a purpose and means something to people.

"nu-male" just means introverted right? Because I'm very introverted/antisocial and love EDM. I even wear a dm5 hoodie. Never understood generalizations like that. All different types of people like all different types of music.

A nu-male is a pseudo-intellect that gives credit to contemporary things for the sake of being contemporary but can never seem to explain why it's supposed to be better. It's basically an updated version of the word hipster.

It's not inherently a bad thing, that's what people miss.

Having a beard and wearing denim and doing "hipster" things isn't a bad thing in itself, it's just associated snobby faux intellects and it leaves a bad taste in your mouth by association.

The word hipster gets used as an obnoxious derogatory term for whatever someone doesn't like but it has its place and people miss why it was created.
