For a review that wrote a lot, there's not much substance in its objective attempt to rate Slayer's music. Not even taking the final embarassing bit into account that discounts any credibility in his rating system, the guy loves to confuse his precious metal genre with the likes of Hardcore Punk, Grindcore, Powerviolence, No Wave, etc. which all go MUCH further with the "simple but Visceral" tenant he's claiming Slayer to be the king of. Having some level of quality in songwriting has always been metal's thing. Slayer comes off as feeling rather halfassed because they want to be that fast paced hardcore band but limit themselves in also weak ass attempts at having good riffs since Slayer riffs tend to lack variety.

Demilich was never trying to go for the low hanging fruit Slayer was and to even imply that is fucking ridiculous.

Even in albums where it's "play samey riffs a bunch of times" are halfassed attempts at something else (speed metal on Show No Mercy, slower Metallica tier thrash on South Of Heaven, industrial and nu metal on their 90s stuff, etc.) Shit band's shit.
