i feel like he intended for this to be a general celebration of black music in the wake of prince's death, but also a critique of its current state (the use of autotune in songs like zombies and stand tall seem to border on parody)

almost seamlessly blends together the sensibilities of vintage sounds popular with the bigger black artists into a cohesive whole. sly, james brown, stevie, funkadelic and the p-funk crew (especially with the bootsy collins rip), parliament, prince, michael, even fucking lenny kravitz and the famous Trap Flavored Rolling Hi Hats play the more prominent roles

thoughts? it's very good and the music press will definitely be touting its importance as an album until the end of the decade

he's using it because it the style of now and he can't sing. i think it sounds dope, but you're being a faggot if you think its a commentary when its clearly just applying contemporary production style to old genres.
