Like what kind of ambient?
I don't think /mu/ likes ambient all that much.

Go with Steve Roach if you like feeling as if you're floating through the vastness of space.

just general ambient or ambient electronic with no lyrics
Try listening to John Stanford and also Slidecamp. Phaeleh is cool too (listen to Fallen Light)

just go the beach or some shit if you hate music that much like damn

i would probably put ambient into 3 categories if i had to
>glitchy/noisy ambient
tim hecker, fennesz, and machinefabriek come to mind
check out harmony in ultraviolet, endless summer, and marijn respectively
>drone, string-based ambient
check out gas (start with zauerberg 2bh, pop is also genius) and stars of the lid (ballasted orchestra is a good place to start, their most famous two albums are just transcendent though)
>"classic" synth ambient, spacey
brian eno (music for airports), klaus schulze (irrlicht), biosphere (substrata), aphex twin (selected ambient 2)
and then you of course have ambient techno, stuff like early aphex twin and autechre, boards of canada, voices from the lake, deepchord presents echospace should get you started

Grouper is awesome, I'd recommend Orphan Fairytale too if you haven't already heard.

Slidecamp is cool too, along with Rykards earlier stuff.

Scratch that Rykards more recent stuff is cool too, specifically his "Luminosty" album.
