Love the record, it's my definite AOTY but I can't stand the cover art, I think it's kinda lame, and the vinyl version doesn't even have the two x's design on the middle which is lamer. Just too simplistic/minimal for me.

On another note I think we all can agree that the new Metallica album has the worst cover art of the year.

Do you feel xiu xiu adds anything of significance to the original? I only listened to a few songs but I didn't hear anything at all let alone to warrant aoty.

Yeah, I think they give the original a good twist, it sounds a tad more sinister/darker and I find it refreshing. It's my personal AOTY anyways, I wouldn't claim it's the best stuff that has come out this year because after all it's an album with cover songs, I just really connect with their take on it and the execution was great.
