Guitars brings you joy.

Comparing guitars with other musical instruments, they are both polyphonic and incredibly expressive. i mean, if you look at piano, it's polyphonic but not as expressive as a guitar. if you look at a violin, it's very expressive but sucks at polyphony. a guitar in the other hand, excels at both categories

1. Listen to people play the style you like

I'm curious, it seems interesting, but the price is offputting for something so niche.
Local shop is fucking stupid so I'll probably never be able to try it out in person.
>>
>>69361574
I found a deal for $79.99 (CAD) which is why im curious. Normally goes for $200+

im guessing its worth it regardless as I can resell it for higher later, but just wanted to know if anyone has had experience with it
>>
>>69361623

it seems pretty gay

I don't get the appeal of it when you can just get a DD-7 and get more shit than you'll ever need in one pedal
>>
>>69361623
at this price I'd jump on it personally.

>>69361643
It's not exactly a delay so much imo, and from what I gather it seems more focused on modulation and "ambiance" rather than being just a pure delay like the DD7. Plus the prices of each are rather similar, at least where I live.

Got this 1984 Tokai Breezysound (TTE50?) about a month ago and I'm curious about the neck.

There is an M stamped on it and I have no clue what it means. I've seen the 35, 85, D stamps before but not M.

The neck is one piece flamed maple as well which is strange as far as I can tell. Haven't seen another vintage tokai tele with a flamed neck.

Anyone know anything about this thing? I've spent hours researching...

I have the other one that is based on the same tracking tech and released at the same time, the MO-2 Multi-Overtone. That one is sort of halfway between a synth pedal and an octaver, similar sound to the EHX POG.

Tracking is good. I like the sound of the synth tones it makes. No complaints. So i guess check the tera echo thing out. $80 Can. is a good price.

I play at my best when i'm playing alone.

The truth is, that if you are going to play with others, it's very likely you will end up playing more generic things because both of you need to have a common ground.

You have more freedom to be adventurous when you are alone. try to compose from your imagination

Noted. I find that I play worse around others because I get too nervous but I usually learn a decent amount because all my friends are better than me.

Does the shape of the guitar head matter a lot, or is it mostly in the pickups and visual preference?

I have an rgaix6fm which I absolutely love. I have also until recently owned another RG. Both have been great, never had any issues with tuning stability, got them set up and never had to adjust the action or intonation since.
I have a PRS Singlecut which has given me tuning problems since day one, and the G strings makes that horrible squeaking sound when you retune it and do some bends. I know it's an issue with the nut, which I've never had with other guitars. Also it's got that stupid unadjustable bridge so you can't do anything to the intonation.

With PRS you're paying for the name, just like a Gibson. Ibanez doesn't pretend to be some turbo luxury brand and instead makes quality for less, and they've never let me down with years of owning them.

Because they're not mass produced in a factory, each one has to be hand built to the creator's specs. So you're adding that in addition to the meme materials like special finishes and rare woods, not to mention that the hardware and parts aren't standard, so it costs more to produce them for the guitar too.

Meme machines. Not even once.

So I just started learning bass and I have some questions:

1. I am trying to learn on an acoustic. I only found out after I got my instrument that that is really only a good move with guitar as acoustic basses kind of suck. Now, this is an acoustic electric, so I can plug in and maybe get a better sound, but should I just take it back to guitar center to exchange it while Is still can and get one of those amp+bass combos?

2. How fast should my fret hand be moving? I just started but it still feels like I can only move up and down the neck really slow and change frets/strings really clumsily. I'm trying to keep good form(all fingers near fretboard, not strangling neck with fret hand, etc.) but how long will it take for my hands to get accustomed and speed up?

3. Are there any recommended online bass curriculums? I downloaded the hal leonard book but I found a website (studybass.com) and have been trying to go through their lessons. I am afraid I can't have regular lessons as I have to move back and forth between home/school a lot.

Thanks /mu/.

>>
>>69364290
>>69364176
I'm from the school of thought that the only thing that matters in an electric guitar as far as tone goes are scale length, electronics, bridge, and to a small extent body. Not so much the wood or design of the body, but the size. Smaller scale length lets strings vibrate more under less tension. Tremolo bridge(especially floating) absorb vibration and string through body absorbs more vibration, bigger body can mean more sustain(more resonance). Density of wood affects sustain, mahogany to alder to whatever is almost(all the time) unnoticeable, but several plys of junk wood with air pockets and trash between them kills resonance. As far as build, the only things that will affect sound are things that alter how much the strings vibrate, a head stock would do nothing, it's about style and personal preference. I hate 3+3 and bottom inline tuners because it's an inconvenience to tune quickly in between songs compared to 6 in line on top.

Electronics play the biggest role though, mostly pick ups. Bad wiring, faulty parts, can affect your sound, but normally it just introduces noise. Pick ups will ultimately lead you to the sound you want, nothing else on the guitar has as big of an affect.

Aside from Pickups nothing I mentioned is either good or bad, just different. Pick ups aren't inherently bad either, some will just be harder to work for some styles.

Find me one great guitarist who has ever bragged about their skill.

>What's about you actually listen to how i play?
Anyone can make "pretty" sounding shit with that much delay and reverb.
>>
>>69364858
This, really.

The pickups are the single most important thing in determining the sound of an electric guitar.

Woods affecting tone is a complete and total meme, total broscience and I really wish it didn't become so mainstream to the point where the average person will believe anything he hears about woods and then they in turn tell their friends about it, and now most of the guitar world thinks tonewoods are a thing.
>>
>>69364987
1. It's not derivative of anything.
2. Explosions in the sky are worse than me. i'm better at making things hypnotic.
3. They are actually have some pretty good albums.

>>69364989
I think alot of musicians are aware they are very talented musicians, even if they do not say it.

>Anyone can make "pretty" sounding shit with that much delay and reverb.

Not everyone can make it as beautiful and hypnotic as i make it. you need to have the right artistic vision.

bare in mind, what you just heard is just me recording in 15 minutes. imagine what i could do if i had a real studio
>>
>>69364989
fucking this, crazyaga's recording was hardly exercising a comprehension of theory. the tripfag got so defensive that he resorted to inflating his own ego. he needs to realize he isn't special.

Only other thing that I'm wondering about is the the stamp on the butt of the neck.

It says T - 8 but most other tokai necks I've seen have something like 3 = 1 or 5 - 18. Don't know what the T means.

Might not mean anything but for some reason I wonder if maybe someone took a neck from say a TTE80 (T - 8?) and slapped it on the body from a TTE50 (3 piece body/5 written in cavity).

>>69365029
Honestly, I love exotic woods. I think they look incredible, and some of them are so strong that they'll likely outlast your great great grandkids and still be just as solid as they are now. If I had the money to drop on aesthetics I'd get a guitar made out of wenge or bubinga or whatever, but it'll sound just like my main guitar when I put my favorite pick ups in it.

an 8-string bass is typically four coursed strings, tuned in pairs an octave apart. The pitches of the higher strings are the same as those of a guitar, but it won't exactly sound like a guitar because of differences in technique and construction.

I thought the high strings cover a good bit of a (baritone) guitar anyway in standard tuning, especially with the octave strings making it sound higher than usual. Not at all, i would just skip the track like with many other artists that have boring songs on their albums
>>
>>69366051
you're such a fucking retard. if /mu/ has a preconception towards you, then why didn't you take your fucking trip off and not talk the mediocre track up before you posted it?

yeah, even if it was good (it wasn't) nobody would admit it, but if you wanted a non-biased opinion you could have introduced it modestly without your obnoxious fucking tripcode
>>
>>69366257
he clearly is, and the frequency of his posting makes me think it's not even bait (which is funnier desu)

people bait and get a couple (You)s, then leave, this is advanced shit
>>
>>69366276
Even worse, saying it's a masterpiece and that he's the fucking best musician of all brings it down from a 4/10 to a 0/10 immediatly
>>
>>69366300
Hes either an extremely bored office job person or a loser with nothing better to do. Either one is funny enough for me.
>>
>>69366300
That's what I'm seeing. At this point if he were trolling he's got to realize nobody is getting worked up aside from maybe 1 or 2 people. And he honestly can't still think it's funny if he were. One thing I noticed, his spelling gets worse after someone says something that might actually hurt his feelings. Like it actually upsets him and he's typing his reply as quickly as possible.

Proficient shredding tho
>>
>>69366531
It sounds better in a full mix.
>>
>>69366594
Anon, that's cheap-solid-state-practice-amp-with-scooped-mids-and-maxed-treble tone. It's not going to sound good in a mix
>>
>>69366274
>skipping songs just because they are slow paced

>>69366261
1. you have no reason to think i was trolling.
2. this is a music image board, not an anime imageboard. go to /a/ for anime.
3. the song i made is really good, even though it was recorded very quickly
>>
>>69366653
I learned from a very smart man that solid state practice amp distortion is the exact same as fuzz.
>>
I would argue this is more generic than the song i gave you in the thread, yet it's a beautiful piece of music which get praised regularly.

Anime is not a Chinese cartoon. I said Chinese. You are now outing yourself as a racist who doesn't know the difference between Asian cultures. Please begone troll.

There is no logical reason to claim 4chan is a Chinese cartoon image board when every board has a different theme to it, and it's much more influenced by japanese culture
>>
>>69360848
Honestly I'm sort of agreeing here

I love the sound of my squire and I think it plays well too. No sense in dropping a thousand dollars on a fancy strat if I'm never going to play a show outside my home town.

My song is better than the morelaid-back songs that were made by black sabbath at that time, in my subjective opinion

You don't need to pay that kind of money for a meme machine. Rondo has got you covered. Few hundred bucks max. You might have to do a little work on it to polish and file away the China/Indonesia but it'll be fine in an hour or two. Djent your heart out.

They're all arpeggios except for the very end where I filled in the spaces in between the arpeggio notes with chromatics walking down.
