It still comes up a lot and I give places like p4k credit for effectively boycotting his entire career but he's still obviously very successful in the mainstream. That's not "black privilege" though (as if something like that even exists), it's male privilege. Plenty of male artists have had domestic violence cases and had people look the other way, John Lennon being a primary example.

To answer OP's question, it's not excused. Misogyny in rap is talked about all the time and I don't think anyone, even the biggest rap fans in the world, would argue that it's someone not a factor. At the same time, as others have said, it's prevalent in every genre. It's probably more noticeable in hip hop because there's much more focus on the lyrics and words like bitch are pretty much embedded in the rap lexicon.

For the record, I do totally agree with your point about how they should fight the actual problems but that will never happen, I already grew up and live in a place full of all sorts of backwards hate and centuries old beliefs, and people are only just starting to stand up to it now.
