I get why people like him, and I think he makes good music but I just have never gone back to listen to one of his albums again. A lot of his stuff sounds the same to me

Michigan and Illinois are indeed basically carbon copies of each other, but that's because he made them within 2 years of each other, and they share a lot of common themes and techniques (i.e. 50 states project, which at some point he did take seriously).

however, age of adz and arrive and lowell are superb and very different. granted, seven swans was basically a porto-carrie and lowell, but all in all different. and year of the rabbit is fantastic and unlike anything he's done before or since, save for s bit of adz.

BQE is his attempt at neoclassical, and its pretty good for that. all delighted people is his rock album, and its also pretty good.
