Depends on genre and how big the venue is, jazz clubs with a famous musician have been some of the best shows I've ever seen, whereas being in a crowd of over 1000 people is going to take away from the music a bit.

I saw Rush at R40 and loved it. But I can't listen to any of their live recordings after Rush in Rio because I cannot stand Geddy's voice live recorded for whatever reason. It sounds like it's always off time and off key.

Favourite band at the time split up (which essentially ended the band in this case) a month before they were to come to Australia.
