That track has excellent atmosphere to back up the simple lyrics. The fucker's mom just died, his wife divorced him, his best friend had to be kicked out for his own good due to drug addiction and his remaining band mates hated him. He'd had suicidal tenancies in his youth which he'd worked past, and despite his accomplishments found that everyone was leaving him or dealing with their own demons beyond his reach. That whole album is him dealing with a very low point in his life. No, the chorus of that song is not so ridiculous.
