Name a band with more combined talent.
pro-tip: it's impossible.
>>69299679
The Who is just diet-Led Zeppelin tho.
The Beatles.
>>69299774
You're retarded
>>69299795
Lmao how.
>inb4 came before LZ
>>69299824
Not that anon, but The Who did far more interesting things than Led Zep in my opinion, and I like both.
>>69299679
Soft Machine
The Velvet Underground and Nico
The Yardbirds
The Patti Smith Group
Animal Collective
Any given Elephant 6 band.
Many jazz ensembles
>>69299824
Not even that much like Led Zeppelin. Their proto-punk and more melodic material is nothing like Zeppelin.
>>69299824
They both have a "heavy" sound but did radically different things concerning music.
Listen to more dadrock instead of the stuff you only hear on the radio.
>>69299844
>>69299860
>>69299874
I'm talking about talent of individuals. Not music you grandpas.
>>69299824
I prefer Zep, but the two are very different.
>>69299679
The Traveling Wilburys
>>69299897
Yes, all of these groups had multiple standout artists playing on them. And I really hope you're kidding when you say AnCo and Elephant 6 are grandpa music.
>>69299679
literally who
>>69299679
>combined talent
Thrak-era King Crimson
>>69299897
You said "diet-Led Zeppelin" which implies The Who are a watered down version of them, when they really aren't that compatible. Nothing to do with talent.
>>69299679
Death Grips
Just Billy and Jimmy alone. The other two for looking cool and being fashionable
With that you have the unstoppable force
>>69299679
didn't they all go to the same school too?
pretty crazy considering each are amongst the best musicians ever in their respective instruments
"yes" were really talented
>>69301349
who?
>>69299679
Sabbath.
Pink Floyd are the absolute epitome of Combined Talent
Tool
Primus
Do Make Say Think
Weather Report
Pink Floyd
King Crimson
Yes
Rush
>>69299956
heh
Led Zeppelin
Porcupine Tree
LZ and Beatles are the most obvious answers
>>69301941
Lennon > Daltrey
Harrison > Townshend
Entwistle > McCartney
Moon > Ringo
Hmm
>>69301349
Yes were extremely talented but way too showboaty and cheesy, kind of ruined them
>>69299860
>Animal Collective
>any given Elephant 6 band
the mothers
1974
Dream Theater
>>69302112
it's good cheese though
There are quite a few bands that have more combined talent than The Who an chis is coming from one of the world's biggest Who fans posting in this thread at the moment.
>>69299679
Queen
Rush
The Police
That's only as far as technical skills go. As far as being better songwriters, there are many who are superior.
>>69301541
ye
greatest band of all time
>>69302057
Lennon > Daltrey (this is a stupid comparison)
Townshend > Harrison
McCartney > Entwhistle (McCartney is the most talented name in this post, but Entwhistle is the most talented at his one single instrument)
Moon > Ringo
>>69305200
>Townshend > Harrison
Can't agree with this. Townshend is one of the all time powerful rock greats, but Harrison both mastered and influenced guitar music forever.
>>69299679
>>69299774
>>69299795
Daltrey is an okay singer, Townshend is a good guitarist, Entwistle was a god tier bassist and Keith Moon was a decent drummer
Jimmy Page is a good if gimmicky guitarist (but a better producer), John Paul Jones is a god tier musician, Robert Plant is a good singer and Bonham was an excellent drummer
Lennon and McCartney weren't so much technically profficient musicians as they were great songwriters. The best musician in the Beatles was Harrison, a great guitarist. Ringo was merely an appropiate, decent drummer.
So when it comes to combined talent, I'd say Led Zeppelin has more of it.
>>69299679
smiths
>>69299679
I'll take you The Who and raise you Rush
>>69306812
I agree with this
>>69306745
>McCartney was a better singer than Lennon
>McCartney was a better songwriter than Lennon
>McCartney was a better pianist than Lennon
>McCartney was a better guitarist than Harrison
>McCartney was a better drummer than Ringo
The Beatles really make a lot more sense when you see them as just being Paul's first (and not even his best) backing band. George Martin is the only reason they are held in a higher regard than Wings.
>>69306846
I mean, yeah, while I don't agree in some of your point, McCartney was the most talented Beatle, which is already saying a lot, but OP's question was which band had more combined talent.
Everyone in Led Zeppelin had a lot of it
>>69306748
Would be absolutely nothing without Johnny Marr
>>69307051
Not Robert Plant. Biggest hack in all of popular music.
>>69307428
His voice suited the band's style really well and he wrote some pretty emblematic lyrics
>>69306745
>Okay singer

>>69306812
THIS
>>69306745
Songwriting in my opinion requires more talent than technical proficiency, which you didn't take into an account at all. It isn't like any classical composers could play every single instrument in their orchestra.
So nothing you said was very convincing at all.
>>69309184
this tbqh
townshend wasn't just a "good" guitarist, he wrote basically the entire who discography
>>69299679
You're absolutely correct, OP, I can't.
>best bassist of all time
>best drummer of all time
>one of the greatest vocalists of all time
>one of the greatest songwriters/guitarists of all time
Not to mention one of the greatest albums of all time. In fact, they don't have a single bad album. (in before post-Moon era)
>>69299679
I really like The Who and especially John Entwistle but
>Dream Theater
>Rush
>Primus
>RHCP
>Pink Floyd
>Queen
>>69309539
There are far better drummers than Moon, he was nearly always off beat and didn't pay attention to anything going on around him. Just hit things hard and fast.
Absolutely perfect for The Who.
>>69299679
Bowie's bands on
>Young Americans
>Station To Station
>Heroes
