I was 14 when I first heard Deftones. Even then, when I wasn't actively interested in music, I immediately identified it as not worthwhile and requested for my girlfriend of the time to play some Pink Floyd instead.

i liked deftones a lot as a kid, i would dare say that they were my favorite band at one point
i listened to white pony and the s/t a lot on a nostalgic binge during last winter and i was surprised by how well both those albums aged and how disconnected they now seem to be from the whole nu-metal thing
the s/t in particular feels more like a mix of 80s post-punk/goth rock and 90s post-hardcore than anything that could be compared to limp bizkit or korn
