Has anyone here listened to every singe Bob Dylan album? How would you rank them? Which ones should I stay away from?
Desire is the last album in his discography that I would call "essential listening".
infidels is god tier

pretty much everything is ok/good to god-tier, save anything released 1985-1992

just listen to blonde on blonde, freewheelin, highway 61, and bringing it all back home. then you can figure out the rest

Everything up to Nashville Skyline is great. So is Blood on Tracks. There are other good albums too, but that should keep you busy.

Everything up to Desire is worth checking out (feel free to ignore his debut and anything from 70' to 73'). He's got some work afterwards that's alright (Time Out of Mind and Oh Mercy
come easily to mind) but I wouldn't dig there unless you're devoted.
The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde on Blonde, John Wesley Harding, Blood on the Tracks and The Basement Tapes are a must listen to
From what I listened to
Bob Dylan - 5/10
The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan - 7/10
The Times They are A-Changing - 7.5/10
Another Side of Bob Dylan - 6/10
Bringing It All Back Home - 9/10
Highway 61 Revisited - 9.5/10
Blonde on Blonde - 10/10
John Wesley Harding - 8/10
Nashville Skyline - 5/10
Self Portrait - 4.5/10
New Morning - 6/10
Blood on The Tracks - 7/10
Desire - 6/10
Street Legal - 3/10
Should I bother with the rest?
>tfw I love Freewheelin, BIABH, H61R and BOB but just can't get into BOTT

Yeah, or at least a few of them. Oh Mercy, Time Out Of Mind, Love And Theft, and Modern Times are all worth a listen.

I was the same for a while, then one day it just clicked.
