All new stuff is coming together! It's a return to synthpop so it's not overtly experimental and something might appear soon. I also went back and fixed an old song I pulled down a while ago.

Hey, you're making music now?? This is super cool. What was the inspiration behind it and what was your goal you hoped to achieve?
>>69293505
>What was the inspiration behind it and what was your goal you hoped to achieve?
I was raised Catholic, and though I don't believe anymore, personally, I always find some symbolic resonance by cross-referencing different interpretations/sects of Christianity- I love the ideas in Orthodoxy of feeling spiritual energies in a tactile way, and the ponderous intellectualism of Catholicism, and thought both of these ideas lent themselves to textured noise music; I wanted to make something to get lost in. I was hugely inspired by "The Dragon on the Shore by the Sea," it opened up the idea of making a tone poem of Scripture with both beautiful ambient melodies and extreme power electronics to me, so this album would not have been made without you having made your excellent work, so thank you!
>>69293566
Haha that's awesome, your work is definitely ambient enough to warrant something like getting lost in so kudos for accomplishing that. Glad I could have helped in any way at all. At the moment I'm on the fifth track and though I'm usually not a fan of ambient, this is nice. Good luck on whatever you have planned next
>>69293659
thank you so much! It means a lot. Good luck to you as well, I'm so excited for whatever you cook up next. Honestly your music gives me hope; I'm so happy to hear something so exciting and boundary-pushing being made today.
As to what's next, I'm actually mostly a visual artist, planning a project centered around religion and mythology (pic related); but this makes me want to get right back to making music!

WOW I really really really like that image, mind if I use it? Gonna put that on my page aha.
Funny, another one of my favorite bands (Moon Safari, prog) has Bruce as a big influence...don't know a ton of his stuff though, maybe I should lol
Listening to some of yours, I love your use of maj7th chords! And the twinkly clean guitar
>>69295689
Damn hm. Not the best luck. Was searching before for places...most of the results were for venues that closed down this past year lol. Even just for places to do like, open mic at, that'd be fun! Have to drive like 40 minutes out sometimes. I'll try again to find individuals, been trying CG and Kijiji too but its hit or miss
>>69293956
Wow, brand new release!
Electronic stuff totally eludes me, I love those offbeat glitchy percussions, very warm sound with the instruments (even though they're so in your face)
>>69295739
thanks! The vocals on "this many angels..." is actually an echoed sample of Jordaan Mason, but I do hope to do more stuff like that in the future.
>>69296019

and thanks for listening! i'm gonna try to whip out another emo EP because i feel like i'm not done with that twinkly style, there were a lot of ideas i had before that high school band ended. thanks for offering encouragement : )

>>69294363
Thanks Andrew. Hearing you liked the production is satisfying since I tried to do the best with very much not high end stuff. Have high hopes for your stuff
>>69295739
Yeah, I'm taking serious consideration into taking the year off to learn cello and percussion because it's such a beautiful instrument (and I am just genuinely in need of percussion training)
>>69296083
all of my work is here, thanks a ton for your interest:
http://www.christopherfreund.com/incompletness#1
the "transFIGuration" title is really more of a pun than anything: the picture is inspired by Jesus cursing the fig tree. I had been reading up on the Russian Orthodox church at the time, and thought of how ritual in the church is meant to physically, rather than intellectually, evoke the action of Christ, so having the representation of Christ, reaching through a stained glass window and gripping the dead tree, through the flattening of photography, coincides with those ideas.
Sadly those aren't my vocals on "This many angels," but it is me on "Gloria." I should let my voice ring out more though.
>>69295647
Holy fuck man

Banpu
!HEY /BANDCAMP/!
So the other day in a /bcg/ the OP started the thread with a question: "how do you record your music"
I think it's a great idea to start each thread with a theme/general question that will foster more discussion and keep the threads alive longer.
Some examples : What are you working on currently, what are your influences, what program/gear do you use, do you play shows, etc. Just general stuff that's related to making music.
SO if you start a bandcamp thread, please include a question/thread theme. If the OP include one, please try to ask people questions about their work and just generally participate and contribute to the quality.
Just some thoughts, if you have any ideas for how we can improve /bcg/ please let us know.
>>69297333
Good idea, but most of us just shamelessly dump (copypaste) their shit in the new thread without reading the OP and then leave
>>69295647
The "bruce in space" comments made me listen to this, And I don't really get the comparison, but vocals aside this reminds me a lot of later Andrew WK. The vocals are much more Broadway-ish than AWK's, obviously, but there are a lot of similarities harmonically and in your choice of instrumentation. A lot of people dump on Andrew WK but I really like him.
>>69297815
Wow I'm extremely flattered! I mean I know the songs are long but I mostly focused on having a lot of punch and pop in everything. Sort of cheese too, even some power metal influence.
Aha broadway...I think my voice is a bit weird IMO but I love going for those big notes
>>69297333
I do everything in reaper and USB line-ins for my instruments, with a few choice presets (a hammond, a few orchestral ones combined together, virtual drums, Limiter No6). I have a cool Shure mic now but I used a cheap 30 dollar one before for that album.
I have a second album in the making (all songs written) but it's on halt for now

Description:
The title of Good Boy's new album, A Mouth Full, is quite prophetic of what it has to offer. Dizzying, disorienting synthesizers and vocoders, dwindling guitars, and colorful, terse bursts of energy, composed and comprised aside George's soft spoken, illusory-filled lyricism. Quite the mouthful indeed.
Support, scrobble, or review on RYM. Any feedback of any kind would be greatly appreciated. And George give some love. Thank You. :)
