Why did rock music become irrelevant?
Define relevant in this context
became stagnant
talented musicians made other genres(Funk, fusion, soul, disco)
people only interested in established trends were generally drawn to rock because of the money involved in it being already established

because of normies

self-imposed limitations, mostly.
The guitar possesses infinite potential for music, few instruments allow for 6 resonating strings to be played with such variation. But bands got way too using distortion to mask crappy playing (and you can't blame them, it's fun to play a distorted guitar), but that just whittled down the genre even further.
because electronic music is more fun

When it lost its funk
60s-70s rock sounds similar to 60s-70s funk, which is essentially very similar things.
80s rock was questionable, 90s rock got off the rails, 00s was terrible and 10s rock doesn't exist
Because the big names refused to retire and pass the baton to newer generations of bands, and advertising/media agencies refuse to let us move on from them.

when i stopped making it

urban music (outside of trap and rap) died about the same time rock died off, best believe there is a correlation between the two
the current generation does not like uptempo music

Record companies can be blamed too, because they signed every single hair metal and grunge band back in the 80's to cash in on a growing trend, no matter how bland and bad they were.

Just to give few examples: Bon Jovi, Warrant, Poison, Whitesnake, Tesla. Don't forget that a rock ballad was pretty much necessary in order to get any significant attention. That's when being formulaic and mediocre became prevalent.

This is very important. It felt like we went from grundge to just talking about the same 70's/80's bands again.

This is something I always found weird about rock.
The rock industry/scene would just not shut the fuck up about the old bands.
00s was really when rock hit the ground floor of shit.
00s rock was literally for kids. It's kind of silly for all these 20/30 year olds to be singing about shit that kids go through
White dudes would only listen to other white dudes and it turns out that white dudes only have so many things to talk about. Combine with rigid standards for instrumentation before people turned off and shit stagnated.
Musical innovation is with the blacks and soul/hip hop right now not because they're better at writing and playing good shit but because the dogma about what it should sound like hasn't cemented yet. It remains to be seen if they'll keep getting periodic injections of wtfuckery that ends up sounding good when used right or if it'll end up like prog-rock, petering out because people riot if you don't lead with a guitar/vocalist/synthesizer.

Because all rock musicians got fed up with their shitty greedy labels and made their own labels or went to alternative labels which couldn't advertise them nearly as well so they were forgotten.
