>take early 50s piano jazz
>throw ludicrous amounts of distortion and crackle on it
>make up some bullshit about memory loss
>5/5
This is, by far, the laziest and most overrated LP you fucking plebs have ever slobbered over. I fell for the meme hard.
>>
50s? I think it's more likely 20s or 30s club music.

i mean, what did you expect - it's not exactly a genre that relies on technical skill in terms of songwriting or should i say virtuoso playing.

either you get it - or you don't. there's not much more to it.
>>
eh, I'm fine with it being lazy if it sounds good
>>
>>69243125
I get it. It's just nothing to get excited about.

>>69243162
But it doesn't. And it relies completely on its samples, providing nothing of value.

Plebs will defend this piece of hackery.
>>
>>69243013
>OTHERS: William Basinksi

Another hack of his kind who relies on themes and anecdotes rather than the god damn music.
>>
Wait until you listen to Patience amd Kirby's albums under his name
>>
>>69243363
>>69243013
I got mad and started saying basically the same thing a number of days ago and someone defended the album saying that Kirby insisted that if everyone thought it was so easy, that they should try making the music, as if rarity is somehow an argument in favour of non-laziness.

Anyway I started doing an album in the style. It's so easy. I'll probably start a bandcamp or something and sell it.
>>
i agree with everything you're saying but it's not a bad thing to listen to every so often casually.
>>
So did he compose the music himself or did he just take a bunch of old songs, added some EQ reverb and crackling vinyl loops?

Because the last one is hilariously easy to do.
>>
>>69243557
the latter

It's literally Bioshock: The Album. almost every review of it references bioshock in some way. yes it sounds really good and has an extremely potent emotional effect, but it's a rip

but no one did it before him.
like some modern art, anyone could have done it, but they didn't. the argument that its easy to do doesn't matter.
>>
>>69243406
Exactly.

>>69243433
Nah, I'm good.

>>69243473
Haha, go for it. Idiots will throw their NEETbux at you.

>>69243583
>Bioshock: The Album
That's hilarious, anon. Using this if I ever encounter a fan of this album IRL.

>>69243587
>implying Kirby started plunderphonics

WHAT THE FUCK SOUNDS LIKE WHAT HE SAMPLES CAN SOMEONE LINK ME SHIT.
like the 1920s club thing i can sort of see but he samples some pretty sad sounding shit that i doubt they played at clubs.

Shut the fuck up.

What you should say is that nobody had the lack of selfrespect or respect for others work that they would take songs, in their fucking entireity, add some bullshit fx, put in on a CD and sell it as a original composition.

That is outright stealing, doesnt matter if he had the songs cleared or not.

>He did it first

people have been making mixtapes like this since DAWS became easily available.
>I'll take these old punk songs I like, smash em up with a tape saturator, add tape hiss and add them in a mixtape so I can pretend I am listening to some dingy old cassette, but on my mp3 player.
>>
>>69243583
