Was grunge the last greatest rock scene?
>>69229345
I think so
grunge is trash, the shoegaze was great.
>>69229345
Do metal scenes count?
>>69229345
No. Musicians are constantly developimg their own sounds whilst taking inspiration from others despite what is popular. Here's some sounds that I enjoy from more current artisits.
-Deftones
-The Mars Volta ( first album is dope)
-Fall of Troy
-BMTH
-BTF once they got rid of Craig faggot
-OM&M
-Tool and APC
The list goes on and on. Just because a certain genre isn't popular doesn't mean art isn't being made. Also, rock hasn't ever really been the main popular genre. Pop music is much easier to digest for the majority of people.

said no one after scratching the surface of the genre

Maybe last great mainstream rock scene
>>69232910
Probably because the mainstream rock scene for the past 20 years has essentially just been imitation grunge.

If were not part of the late 90's early 00's hardcore scene then you wouldn't have been privy to the late 80's early 90's grunge scene.
Its easy to look back on greatness, but to catch it while its hot is something else altogether.
