Is it humanly possible to top Howlin' Wolf in blues? From the voice to the guitar to the name to the looks.
Muddy Waters comes close second.

I love Wolf, and currently live about 20 minutes from where he was born. West Point, MS has an annual festival to celebrate him, and it's a great place to catch local blues acts.
That being said, I also really enjoy pic related and RL Burnside.

Mississippi Fred McDowell is awesome.

An interesting type of blues is Piedmont blues. It's closer to ragtime than the other types. One of the best examples is Blind Willie McTell.

Anyone seen Buddy Guy recently? Saw him twice in the last two years. He's old as dirt, but still a top 10 guitarist and world class showman.

Aw man, I almost went to that festival at the beginning of September but I had too much going on. I'm about an hour and a half from Westpoint, famalama.
Did you go? I've been interested in Jarekus Singleton lately, so I really hate I missed him.

I had actually never heard him before, but after just hearing a little bit on youtube, I'm definitely thinking you should listen to Lightnin' Hopkins. You can't go wrong with The Complete Aladdin Recordings.
