I was hoping he would go the aphex or autechre route but all we get is subpar releases.

Yeah same. I generally like him but he's run out of fresh ideas. Some of his """experimental""" stuff is better and more complex than hia old stuff, but it's still not good.

He's maxed out his mixing and "pristine production" skills and hasn't innovated in songwriting at all. He's a glorified engineer.

Liked him back in high school. Hate most of his stuff now. I like a few singles and some of his pre-4x4=12 stuff, but I wouldn't call any of it amazing. Random Album Title is still wonderful however.

He does own mau5trap but his own releases are through them and a major label, last time it was Astralwerks but I can't remember if it's still them.

He's already let the album leak out for free anyway and he doesn't even seem to care.

Snowcone is one of his best tracks ever imo. Some other good stuff on there from what ive heard so far.

He was in a huge legal battle for 2 years to get off the previous label.

This is his first self released album.

So I've been thinking about starting listening to this guy for a while now, glad this thread came a long.

I'm probably gonna be made fun of here, but I honestly consider him one of my favourite artists of all the time. It's something about his music that always makes me come back to it. I don't know anyone that has similar style to him. Anybody want to recommend me similar artists to deadmau5 that have this electro/progressive sound?

He was one of my favorites back in high school and had a huge influence on my music, so I'll always love his work for that.

grew up listening to him, still like him but don't listen to his music anywhere near as much
