What's the point of finding and listening to obscure music?
To find stuff I might enjoy.

Some of it can be really good.
hello r.ato
Its fun to be the only person who knows about something really cool. Then you can support them and recommend them to other people so they can get more popular. Plus a lot of popular music sounds the same.
Majority of pop music works on the basis of general emotional responses. Maybe I want to find something that is very specific for me.
So I can become true patrician and one-up everyone who tries to recommend me "le experimental" music

No
You do it to boost your ego and feel more superior than the rest of /mu/.
Go fuck yourself you pseudo-intellectual egoist cunts.
>>69161907
Great argument, you sure showed me.
>>69161833
There's no denying that a majority of the gain from looking for obscure music is the self accomplishment of finding something that wasn't forced fed to you through other mediums and actually enjoying it because you have to work through all the other shitty music to find it.
>>69161907
Why are you so angry? Jeez dude, how else would small bands get popular if people didn't support them?

Yeah, feeling superior to people on an anynomous image board who you'll never meet in real life is surely going to boost your ego.
>>69161907
Kill yourself you cunt, no one is boosting their ego because they listen to whatever nobody listens to

>Find a band
>Like a band
>Finds fans of band
>If those fan/s are idiots find new band
>Keep looking until band with no annoying fans is discovered
I'll admit; a lot of really, really obscure stuff is absolute shit, but every now you find that one record/EP/band that you actually really like. And when you find it, it's nice. It's personal. The idea that nobody you know has listened to it makes it feel like it's just for you. It makes it more meaningful in a way.

This. This meme needs to stop. Why would anyone actually give a fuck about anonymous neckbeards' approval of your taste? No one on this board actually listens to anything just to seem smarter, and if there really is anyone who does, they're a very small minority.
Most of the time its because I've drained a genre of all the big, renowned titles but am still thirsty for more. Or the obscure music fits some weird music niche that I dig.

Too many people are falling for this bait.
>>69162159
I think many people coming here don't know what to take seriously. That's the problem.
Let's actually hear some interesting obscure music people in this thread have found. This is most likely a bait thread, but let's not ruin it completely. I'll start. Here's an album by an obscure progressive rock band from a country which no longer exists.
