Isn't it a legal requirement for the artist to put their legal name down anyway to get songwriting credit?

Even though it doesn't sound as good, I think it'd be easier to name artists who simply obscure their identity.

I don't think I know any artists who practice complete anonymity. Like you said, Buckethead is probably the best example.
