I'll never understand why this is the one extended guitar solo hipster assheads who think "wanking" equates to having any instrumental skill whatsoever will accept. Not saying it's not a brilliant song, because it is, but still, why? Is it because it's vaguely punk, and therefore a relative of the criticism-proof sacred cow genre of /mu/?

The Allman Brothers Band have some nice solos, I think Duane too was influenced by Miles Davis.
Michael Karoli has some tasty guitar work.
Mark Knopfler and Robin Trower are pretty good, also, check out Ace of Spades(really non-wanky solos)
