Why do so many Bjork fans shit on this album? I fucking love

Declare Independence and Wanderlust are good, that's about it

It's probably her fourth best album after Medulla, Homogenic, and Debut. The big brass numbers are fun, but there's a subtleness that's missing, and it doesn't seem like there's as much of a progression being made as her earlier works.

(btw, Medulla stands head and shoulders above anything else Bjork has released, it's her only album I'd reccomend to anyone.)

It's not bad per say, just unremarkable. It's got some good tunes, but as an album, it doesn't hold a cup to something like Vespertine or Biophilia

Her duets with Antony Hegarty are some of the best songs she's ever made.

Yeah, I get it, overally it's a bit shallow. As pop songs I think they're musically great but I see your point.

If we're counting stuff outside main releases, I'd say Biophilia Live is my absolute favourite, partly due to awesome versions of earlier songs like Mouth's Cradle.

I have to agree, it's one of the better known songs from the album, but I thought it was just boring.

Yeah I have no idea WHY that song became one of the big hits off it. The drums and whatever the hell that sound effect throughout was grating as hell.

It's like an even worse "Army Of Me" or "Pluto".

It's just really boring, and not because it's slow, but because it's so musically uninteresting. I really like how she incorporated the chinese pipa in a couple of tracks but that's about it.

There are no memorable melodies and absolutely no experimentation. 'Pneumonia' and 'Vertebrae By Vertebrae' are just plain lazy. 'Declare Independence' is downright embarrassing.

Definitely Bjork's worst album.

It's not terrible, it's just nowhere near as good as her others.

I really like the Volta Tour DVD though.

Medulla is for me undoubtedly Bjork's opus, the production is much starker and more serious than her usual off-kilter, paint by the numbers pop stuff, the singing in her native tongue and Inuit folk singing seems to represent a return to something primal and conflicted. The choirs also allow her arrangements to be acrobatic and ambitious.
