Godspeed You! Black Emperor, name a band that has consistently put out 6 incredible projects, be the all time best in their genre (Swans can be debatable), and completely ruin the genre too, because of third wave copycat bands.

I've never listened to them before because of the exclamation point in the name annoys me so much, but now I think I might finally try them.

The problem with GY!BE is that they only really focus on one single dynamic, which they're good at, but at times it can feel like it's all the same thing. I'm not saying that they need to do a complete 180 and start making music differently, but it would be nice if their approach was different, like what they did with a Silver Mt. Zion (although they tended to sound similar as well).
