I've been going through his discography. I finished Manchild and I'm about to listen to Secrets, so far this is my top 5 (pic related)
What's /mu/'s thoughts on Herbie Hancock? What's your favorite Herbie album?
I love a lot of his early stuff, so maiden voyage is among my favorites. Got to seem him in Brooklyn this Summer and it was an absolute treat.

Holy shit you're lucky. You got to see him live? That's awesome! What's some of the pieces he played?

Thrust, Crossings, and Mwandishi are my favorite albums of his that I have on vinyl.
Of course you gotta love the Death Wish OST
Also pic related is god-tier.
Got to see him play with Wayne Shorter earlier this year where he accepted his lifetime achievement Grammy. Fucking dope.
Do you like most fusion anon?

Damn, you guys are so lucky getting to see him live.
I've just been getting into jazz, so far all I know is Herbie up to Manchild and Bitches Brew. But yeah, the funk-based stuff I enjoy a lot more (But I did also love Takin Off and Mwandishi, among others).

As far as fusion goes you should check out Chick Corea(specifically Return To Forever) and Jean-Luc Ponty, Very funky. Very jazzy. With dope ass rock elements. If you like jazz rock then pick related is a must.
Also Japan has a lot of over-looked fusion. T-Square, Casiopea, and Masayoshi Takanaka are one that first come to mind. Defiantly more electric and world influenced though.
