Where's your soul section?
>>68998996
I don't listen to soul enough to pick out ten albums in a given year. Martha High's new album was great though
>>68999049
2016 has been the best year for soul since the 70s. Martha High is the tip of 'berg, my friend.
>>68999061
what do you want me to do with this informartion ? I just told you I wasn't very interested or involved in soul
>>68999075
I want you to become interested and involved in soul, man.
>>68999086
funk, jazz and psych are already taking too much of my time and interest, sorry
>>68999108
That's fair.
That's more than fair.
>>68999117
if you're knowledgeable about soul you are welcome to post in /groove/ whenever it pops up though, it would be interesting to see more diverse stuff than the funk singles I post to keep the thread alive
I know all about trying to revive dead threads.
Breathe, damn it!
bottom row is EPs

I don't know if I'm eligible to post 2016 chart, since these are the only records I've listened from that year.
I enjoyed them a lot though.
Having a hard this year, a lot of albums I thought were good at first ended up being shit after the 4th or 5th listen.

Still, the rest of your albums fucking suck
I remember listening to an album with a black cover with a head.
It was good, but I can't remember the name (it was a s/t iirc).
Any help?

>>69001096
I will never understand why Atrocity Exhibition is so highly rated. It is only slightly creative IF you compare it strictly to other nigger rap albums, which all consist of a man talking over a house/funk beat.

>Hot Opinion confirmed for not having 2 phones
>>69001096

>>69003464
Who doesn't?
>>69003336
I don't see how you at least couldn't find the production unique and engaging. I've understood complaints about his voice and lyrics even though I like both, but I really don't know how one finds the production not stellar. How many times have you heard it? What'd you think of XXX?
>>69003382
Lol. Honestly one of my favorite songs on the album not that that says much
>>69003464
Where do your and my taste differ friend?
>>69003909
Just saw Mitski last night actually. It was pretty awkward though because she asked all Trump fans to leave and a few people got pissy even though I'm pretty sure there were maybe 3 trump fans in the whole building. Also props for MY WOMAN, that album blows my mind how catchy and enjoyable it is. She really stepped her songwriting from Burn Your Fire
>>69003994
>asking trump fans to leave
what a fucking retard honestly, and i wouldve voted clinton if i had the chance
"bawww your political opinions differ from mine"
>>69004094
Yeah, I did vote for Hillary and I still was like that's not cool. Why bring politics into it? She said it was a violent act which was absurd, and I was thrown off because I don't think she even realized that she was discriminating based on political views which is unconstitutional and goes even against the beliefs of her own party. Still like her music tho

1) Pinegrove – Cardinal
2) Kanye West – The Life of Pablo
3) Bon Iver – 22, A Million
4) Jesu/Sun Kil Moon – Jesu/Sun Kill Moon
5) PUP – The Dream Is Over
6) Microwave – Much Love
7) American Football – American Football (LP2)
8) Joyce Manor – Cody
9) Jeff Rosenstock – Worry
10) The Hotelier – Goodness
11) Hamilton Leithauser + Rostam – I Had A Dream That You Were Mine
12) Whitney – Light Upon The Lake
13) John K. Samson – Winter Wheat
14) Frank Ocean – Blonde
15) Carly Rae Jepsen – Emotion Side B
16) Death Grips – Bottomless Pit
17) Saosin – Along the Shadow
18) Radiohead – A Moon Shaped Pool
19) Real Friends – The Home Inside My Head
20) Young Thug – No, My Name is JEFFERY
>>69001858
It'll probably get replaced by that thirdorgan release or the Lanark Artefax EP. Still a solid Vatican Shadow release though
>>69003784
wasn't that an xD meme tho
>>69004840
What'd you think of the Hotelier's album? Seems up your alley based on your list. I thought the Jesu collab was pretty good too, I just couldn't stand the doom cuts
+ 22, A Million , Blackstar, and I like it when you sleep
>>69004967
I have it as #10 on my list, but it will honestly probably drop. Not as memorable as ITGO or HLNIT. It's good, but it's missing something.

shit, I'm stupid haha. I agree, there's something weirdly forgettable about it but at the same time keeps me coming to it because of that, weirdly enough. I enjoy it every time but always feel the need to remind myself. HLNIT Was in top 5 of 2014. That album's the shit, front to back. Intro is one of my favorite emo songs
>>69005273
What's the point of putting the artist when anyone with YouTube Link Title can see it anyway
>>69004900
It's always an xD meme when they get caught
>>69005232
I prefer Seer to Glowing Man by a long shot. Idk There were parts I really loved about Glowing Man but some of the softer parts didn't resonate with me like past Swans stuff. Both are great albums and not very far apart, but I think ToD wins out, for me anyway. Fill In The Blank will probably end up in my top 20 songs for the year
>>69005295

whats the point of complaining about that :)

Thanks sempai.

I need to listen to Goodness more, even though I've probably heard it front to back 20+ times. Anything you see missing from my list that you think I might like? I try to listen to 100 new releases a year but I'm only around 50 for this year as of right now.
>>69000977

>>69005316
But you can already see the artist
>>69005498

>>69005366
First off you have to listen to Angel Olsen- MY WOMAN, it's amazing. Hmm, have you heard Tiny Moving Parts- Celebrate? Twinkly emo you might enjoy. Also Serpentwithfeet's new EP might be your thing. And if you liked JEFFREY, you must check out Big Baby D.R.A.M., it's that trap happy style done well in my opinion. Some other shit...
Kishi Bashi- Sonderlust
Touche Amore- Stage Four
Frameworks- Smother(which I still need to give another listen before rating)
The Thermals- We Disappear
and I haven't heard Say Anything- I Don't Think It Is, but you might dig it idk
>>69005423
Woods- City Sun Eater in the river of light
a solid indie folk album with some chamber arrangements and subdued vocals. It's a solid album
>>69005668
I've listened to TMP and enjoy it. I know Kishi Bashi, Touche Amore, Frameworks, The Thermals, and Say Anything, but haven't heard the new albums. I'll check out Angel Olsen, Serpentwithfeet and Big Baby Dram, thanks.
>>69005770

Open Mike Eagle + Paul White- Hella Personal Film Festival
>>69000514
oh shit i didn't know there was a new true love record. I'm getting on that right now.
The new Goat album 'Requiem' will likely make its way on here.

Why didn't you like it?

I just found it kinda bland, honestly. The production was solid but the songwriting was incoherent, and the bars were nothing special.

>Wisdom of Elders
Is this new mucore?
>>69014004
Well to be fair, that title is a lyric in it, and I think the lyrics were improvised by the vocalist, Jenny Hval. She did a good job on the vocals, but the album is really about Kim Myhr's composition. It's a really good album, from a really good label, with a really good orchestra
Don't fixate on the title
