The only good hip hop is hip hop for white people
>>68988017
(You)
>>68987977
that sounds like something a white person would say
>>68988235
Ain't it funny how it happens?
Why are you posting this here?
You do know that this is a music board, right?
GRIME IS NOT, HAS NEVER BEEN, AND WILL NEVER BE HIP-HOP
>>68988179
It's true
What are the top two albums?
>>68988537
Good thing there's no grime on this chart.
>>68989160
A Tribe Called Quest and Skepta
>>68989194
who is skepta?
I imagine most of you are white: What do you get out of Chimp-Hop? I can see the appeal of the instrumental albums, but the ones with criminals hooting and hollering should be alien to any white person.
>>68989324
It is. That's what's great about it. The insight into these lives. It's entirely novel and fascinating.
>>68989324
You must be very intelligent.
>>68987977
It always has to be about race with you fucking retards. Can't good music just be good music?
>>68989324
Yeah because you can only appreciate music if you're able to relate with the experiences of the artist. I imagine you have a very narrow view of music, and I pity you.
>>68989408
>>68989347
hip-hop lyrics are make believe. I can't believe you buy into this shit
>>68989445
>I only listen to pure music
>>68989445
Oh so the words these people are speaking don't exist? Thanks for enlightening me about this.
What the fuck are you talking about?
>>68987909

2009-2014 meme/ironic rap movement was the true hiphop reneissance
>>68987977
Danny and Kendrick take a lot of shots at the ignorance of their white fans so i don't think that's true
>>68989478
>>68989445
Some hip-hop is make believe, essentially fiction. Other hip-hop is very sincere and comes entirely from personal experience. This has always been the major divide in the hip-hop community, between real rap (they actually mean what they're saying) and poseurs (just make believe). Over time the divide between the two has gotten fuzzier, hip-hop artists eventually stopped caring as much about how they were perceived or got more abstract about their lyrics. The focus in hip-hop today leans more towards storytelling.
>skepta
>kendricks second best album
>a group from the 80s

Pretty cool of you to mention Skepta's album OP. I went back to it about two weeks ago having not listened to it for at least 3-4 months and it still holds up quite well.
>>68987992
earl is fantastic. easily one of the best lyrically rn.
>>68990676
did you hear the first single from gambino's new album? it was shit. plus thats probably not even gonna b a rap album by the sounds/looks of it. and thats a shame bc i fuck w gambino heavy
RTJ3 soon folks
How is the Tribe album? I didn't even know about it till now
>>68987977
not even remotely true. Tons of black people revere tribe and kendrick.
>>68989256
hes a british grime artist. The album is called konnichiwa. It's pretty cool and fresh sounding and has some cool bangers but its not as crazy and groundbreaking as OP is making it sound.
