i mean i like bill evans its just kind of boring
its like a mix between classical and jazz, but theres better jazz out there and theres better classical out there

Sun Ra writing for a player piano would be better than him.

There are people better as individuals but I don't think there are many groups who've made music as wonderful as Evan's trio, which really shines for the group dynamic.
Of course, if you're looking at it from that perspective, people like McCoy Tyner with Coltrane's quartet suddenly go way up the list.

Monk is clearly the correct answer though.

That's why he's so wonderful though! If you want finess, you're better off going for classical music, Monk is selling a unique personality and style in the tradition of people like Armstrong or Miles. People mentioned itt like Bill and Bud deffinitely have that too but there's a beautiful awkwardness to Monk's voice appeals really strongly to myself and a lot of other people.
