It's a compilation of demos, bootlegs, and rarities, so it fits.

If you're going that route, then most of Bob Dylan's Bootleg Series wins with ease

It's a shame that people only seem to listen to glow pt2 and nothing else, this is one of my favorites

Yeah lately I've been going through all his single/rarities collections like song islands, really enjoying it

This is the demo tape
http://thesteamengine.net/home/download-red-house-painters-early-demos-9192.html
Unfortunately the only version online is badly compressed or whatever you call it.
But all the Down Colorful Hill songs are taken direct from these recordings, so you can do what I did and swap those six songs on the demo tape out for their high quality counterparts released on DCH
You can do the same for the demo versions of Funhouse, Waterkill and Uncle Joe which appeared on disc two of the Retrospective. These are also from the tape, but are in higher quality on the Retrospective.
On the demo casette, you also get early versions of Evil (with a more hard hitting and distorted climax), Strawberry Hill and a few excellent songs that were never used again, like Heart Attack, 21, Headsore and The Bridge
Pretty sure theres a mediafire link to the Retrospective in the archive, and I'm sure you have DCH or can find it easily
