I also sort of act like Brian. I only discovered his music about a year ago, and when I did, I loved it. And when I learned about his life's story and stuff, and watched Love & Mercy, I thought "Wow! This guy's just like me!" So that's why I like Brian so much.

I mean, I knew of them. I had heard Good Vibrations and all their surf hits growing up, but I never knew they went beyond that. When I listened to SMiLE, I realized there was so much more to them than I previously thought. And I've just been hooked since.

I feel that's how it is for a lot of people. So many people think that The Beach Boys only did surf songs, but then they listen to something like Pet Sounds or SMiLE and see just how deep Brian's genius is.

I didn't even need to take acid to develop my mental illness, it just kind of happened. I mean, there were causes, yeah, but I didn't take drugs. I know that Brian is always speaking out against drug usage, so I'm sure that if he knew you he'd be glad that you're taking his message to heart.

I'm diagnosed with clinical depression, psychosis Not Otherwise Specified, and social anxiety disorder. I've gotten a lot better with the social anxiety, but my psychosis and depression have gotten worse as of late. Next time I see my psychiatrist I need to bring it up.

Thank you, Anon. I've had to deal with this all for about five years, I'm sure I can make it. It does get hard, especially without people or even just someone I can call just to talk to whenever things get rough, but I can manage. If Brian can do it, so can I.

I do, but I think that at this point they're tired of me complaining to them about my problems, or maybe they just don't understand. I dunno. But a lot of them don't even bother to pick up the phone anymore when I call. So now I got to learn how to try to handle things myself. It's hard, but I need to try.

Maybe. I'd feel better if it were just that.

I mean, if that's the case, then I guess I don't have too many real friends. I mean, I kind of have felt that they're not the best of friends for a long time, but I haven't told them because they don't deserve to feel bad. I mean, I have told one of them, but only after things got really bad.

sometimes not telling your friends when your going through something can make them feel bad because they think your ignoring them when really you just cant handle seeing them
don't take this the wrong way though, im not trying to push/guilt you into talking to your friends about this

Well, it's not that I haven't told them about my psychosis if that's what you mean. It's that I don't tell them when they're not being good friends.

Listen, I'm sorry for derailing the thread and for making this all about me. If you want to keep talking, I'd be more than glad to, but not here. I don't want to turn a Brian Wilson thread into a thread about myself.
