I'd had visual and audio hallucinations since I was 16 (though the audio ones phased out around 21; not unheard of to have schizophrenia that is mostly visual instead of audio in terms of what the hallucinations are), so I was being watched by my doctors for a while and was on a mild antipsychotic/anti-depressant combo. It didn't descend as bad as some cases do, thankfully. Due to the prodromal stages, and schizophrenia not typically fully manifesting until late teens/early twenties in males, the psychiatrist, perhaps a little optimistically, just assumed I was having chronic depression with psychosis as a comorbid attachment -- not unheard of, and I'd had chronic bouts of depression (diagnosed several times by different doctors) since I was 8 after something happened that year.

And for what it's worth, I'm making sure I get enough nutrients and calories, so as to not starve. Eating's not enjoyable at all any more though. Keeps me from killing time by over-eating though.

I had a brief moment with something like schizophrenia a few years ago. It might have just been psychosis I'm not sure of the difference. I was paranoid and heard random noises (not really voices much) on occasion. It also wasn't all bad and scary...there were genuinely happy moments but I can see clearly that something was off. Had a bump due to a paperwork mix-up at the medication clinic (I was supposed to stop taking it in pill-form a week before the injections started, but my paperwork was misplaced and wound up being off them for a month), but they take a while to kick in and wear off, so it was not too bad. Been more paranoid, didn't hallucinate much and am returning to normal.

I have a small social circle of good friends I see as regularly as possible. I am not a bad case, you only ever hear about the gibbering wrecks though. As long as I keep up treatment, I'll not degenerate much.
