God bless ae

russian nu-males should fuck off back to the russian 4chan
Just pre-ordered the new Amber reissue - feels good

I've been thinking of picking up Tri Repetae but my turntable setup is so rubbish I'd need to invest a couple hundred euro to even play anything. Which might still be worth it, but I'm a little hesitant.
Exai is best ae
seeing them tomorrow, cant wait
also gescom doesnt get enough love here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLlvVcY9ZLs
So I've been working through ae's discography chronologically for the last two years. Just gave this EP a spin and... wow. Pound for pound, this is better than Tri Repetae. How does Envane compare?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rl7ysc0IlM4
stopped listening since confeld because I assumed they'd reached their apotheosis in terms of style and complexity
is there a reason to listen to later releases at all? do they really achieve anything notable beyond that release?
I can't imagine them becoming more abstracted so what's the draw of later stuff?
>>68914766
Better than tri repetae?? not even close. Anvil is still great of course
>>68914782
of course there is a reason, they radically changed up their style after confield and imo 00s ae is miles ahead than the old stuff
>>68914782
AE never stopped progressing. You cant just assume this without listening for yourself. Just learn how to listen to their later stuff. Headphones are pretty much necessary as all the details are important. It all works together like gears in a machine.
>>68914782
they started adding more reverb to their fruity loops presets
>>68914804
This is true. They pretty much abandoned any conventional music structure to create a new structure. One that I think is the future of music. Whats your favorite album by em?
>>68914790
This is just my opinion. Obviously Tri Repetae is amazing but it gets the edge for being longer. Anvil Vapre kept me more interested the entire time. Tri has some sleeper moments for me.
>>68914865
No I get it man, everyone is entitled to their opinion. Do you listen to them with headphones?
>>68914766
Second Bad Vilbel sounds like a clinical cover of Acen's A Trip II The Moon.

>>68914863
atm its quaristice, untilted being a close second, but it always changes
>>68914891
Sennheiser HD 280 Pros from like six years ago. I grew up on AFX. Just now getting into ae. I appreciate everything both artists make but I tend to gravitate more towards melodic IDM, rather than the more esoteric.
Quaristice is my personal favourite, from the pads in altibzz to the bass melody in outh9x
I'm just glad they're still making music
>>68914804
Can anybody just give me a rough, brief description of their 00s and 10s releases then?
what can I expect?
>>68914903
Untilted makes me happy. It was the first album by them where I finally realized how you're supposed to listen to them. It was a great day.
>>68914943
draft is some fucked up hip hop beats mixed with glitch and noise
untilted is percussion heaven
quaristice is a techno jam band record
oversteps is like 90s ae turned up to eleven
exai i dont even know what to say, same with elseq
>>68914929
I see. It's hard to break from what you're comfortable with. Especially if you grew up with something like AFX. You'd Probably enjoy oversteps, chiastic slide, exai. Those are all very melodic in my opinion.
>>68914996
exai is a mix of everything they've done before, elseq is so massive that you cant even describe it like this
>>68914943
>draft7.30
confield but more beat oriented
>untilted
they drop their digital wank in favor of hardware. sounds like a worse lp5
>quaristice
everything they had done up to this point mashed together but with added atmospherics. people saw autechre as getting way too ahead of themselves with this release which is why it received(s) hate
>oversteps
they drop their rhythm mashery in favor of harmonic experimentation. not my cup of tea but w/e fans of amber might enjoy it
>exai
oversteps' atmospheric experimentation turned to 11
>elseq
exai turned to 11
>>68915003
Nice, looking forward to it.
>>68915022
>oversteps' atmospheric experimentation
err quaristice's atmospheric experimentation
>>68915022
I used to think draft and confield were similar. But they're really not. Draft is it's own beast imo.
gaey
>>68915086
draft is, as noted above, more hip-hop driven and more industrial-ish if you will, probably as an effect of the unrealized coil collab ae were planning at the time before coil lost their balance
>>68915039
Just remember to give it your full undivided attention and let it take you to places you never could of imagined :). Hope you enjoy em
>>68915114
Interesting. I wasn't aware they were gonna collab with coil.
>>68915114
the coil stuff was around the release of lp5, at least they said that in the qanda
>>68915145
>>68915114
my bad, the autechre collab was planned around the time of chiastic slide/lp5
iirc it was boc who planned a collab with coil circa 2002-3 that unfortunately halted due to balance's death
>>68915196
>>68915188
explains how they went from tri repetaian-styled minimal techlectro to full-on industrial hip-hop beats around that period
Which ae album is the coldest?
Confield? Untilted? Draft? (Tri Repetae?)
>>68915275
Oversteps and elseq 5.

>>68917018
is there a transcript somewher?
>>68918171

All these Instagram snippets sound really exciting, can't wait for however they intend to release these tunes next
>>68928965

holy shit im dead, these are the ae fans i distance myself from
>>68934063
It's like I'm really reading a thread on WATMM.
I didn't give Anti much of a chance in a rush to dive into Tri Rep. After relistening, I now can't stop listening to it
As good as their later/latest work is (Exai is probably my favourite album of theirs right now), there is a joy in the immediateness of their early work. It's not as complex, but it's no less valuable.
