>>
foobar sucks.

AIMP is the GOAT for windows.

And private trackers>soulseek
>>
Because slsk doesn't have everything, is filled with lossy sourced transcodes and can be slow as shit sometimes.
>>
>>68912238
Not unless you download from verified what.cd users/scene collectors/people who rip their personal library.
>>
>>68912285
Good luck uploading half of your PC before you can actually download what you want.
>>

>>
>>68912437
>>68912516
lmao, the trick is to just make up a handle like "FunkadelicChick" or "ComusFanMelanie" or some shit, most slsk uploaders are hella thirsty
>>
Sharing your music folder literally takes one second. Did you even use slsk?
>>
rutracker
>>
>>68912212
Agreed. But I'm not a microcuck so my gentleman's set is alternative but the same: Nicotine+ and DeadBeef.
>>

>>
>>68912608

>>
>>68912608
All three (slsk, what.cd, rutracker) have shit the other doesn't have.
>>
>>68912437
I had no problems like this. Just use the search, you dont need to bother interacting with other users that way.
>>
>>68912717

Ok search for Russel Haswell, as an example, both rutracker and slsk and compare results.

1) Code optimization i.e. Less bloat
>>
>>68913814
as far as I know, Slsk gtk+ doesn't exist. Anyway Qt is more superior to GTK+
>>
>>68913829
I mean, yeah, sure, I can't deny that foobar is well optimized but MusicBee doesn't use more than 30 MB of RAM while running and the installation is very lightweight too.
>>
>>68913829
The fact that you posted that shows that you have no idea what optimization means, and bloat is a worthless term on any modern system starting from goddamn ipads
>>
>>68912212
Are you? Why do you enjoy tagging, renaming, downloading, being cut off halfway through a download, finding album art, sorting, when you can just search and click in Spotify? Use Soulseek just for rare obscure sekrit klub shit. A tenner a month is disposable cash if you're not a pov.

You're borderline retarded if you're downloading untagged folders, I have to tag a folder myself once in a blue moon.

1. I let MusicBrainz do most of those things for me.
2. Even if I wouldn't, it sounds a lot more enjoyable than waiting for tons of artists/albums to even show up on streaming services at all.

Daily reminder that streamingfags pay money/watch ads to listen to their music.
>>
>>68914067
lol shit is untagged and without album art on there all the time. Not to mention it has errors in the middle of songs sometimes because faggots have scratched cds and can't rip properly. Fuck network you using?

>>
>>68912212
Foobar is shit because it doesn't have album art caching to be honest

Also all the bars have the ugly Windows 7 folder blue and changing that is jumping through too many hoops, I'm not going to change my Windows visual theme to make my music player look not like shit
>>
>>68914466
Just use some winamp spinoff. Minimal and shows album art.
>>
>>68914466

>>
>>68914320

>>
>>68914449
I do you fucking idiot, log files and all. Some shit isn't in FLAC in case you haven't noticed.
>>
>>68914497
Extensions don't address anything I mentioned.

Go ahead, search for an extension that displays the album art in the library and doesn't take fucking forever to load it in all the time.

I'm not going to replace all my components with similar ones that do less because they are made for a very specific layout and don't look like shit and I'm not going to change my Windows visual theme.

>>68914492
Can you recommend a specific one?
>>
>>68914638
>an extension that displays the album art in the library and doesn't take fucking forever to load
Columns UI, literally the most basic extension available
>>
>>68914638
Also,
>all the bars have the ugly Windows 7 folder blue and changing that is jumping through too many hoops
Going to properties and clicking two boxes isn't "too many hoops", you're just inept at using a computer.
>>
Foobar quite literally crashed my computer and coincidentally, my ssd HD crashed and burned. Weird.

I'll never use that shit again. It's heavy, and "wordy". Any edits you make or add on are like writing code. Cool idea, but man...
>>
>>68914697
Columns doesn't have album art caching and you need additional extensions to display the album art in the library and not just in one field when you play a song.

>>68914762
Why are you so bent on defending your shitty music player to the point of lying?

The thing is free, what's your stake in this?
>>
>>68914808
>my ssd HD

it's not hard to figure foobar out. it doesn't come with many components initially and that's a good thing. if you expect everything to work out of the box, you're obv going to be disappointed. welcome to computers.
>>
>>68914999
No, no. I know. I just want my shit play in the background. A nice light piece of software. Maybe it's just too much for my instant gratification/patients.

"no"
>>
>>68914999
You can customize Foobar as much as you want, but the end product is always going to be shitty and limited because of Foobar at it's core and the components that are available.

There is really no point in using it.

Is there any reason to use Columns UI over the standard user interface?

I honestly really really hate Collumns UI
>>
>>68915442
Just use it for album art
>>
>>68915536
Does it cache it or is it the same as if I was using some other extension with the default UI?

The editing is a pain in the ass and I don't really like anything about Columns
>>
>>68915729
You can keep the default UI and literally just use the album art feature though
see: >>68915052
And yeah, it caches, no need to keep artwork or go looking for it.
>>
>>68915790
>You can keep the default UI and literally just use the album art feature though

How?
>>
>>68915808
Just download and install the component without a skin, all the features are off by default.
>>
>>68915850
I don't understand.

If I download Columns UI there is no skin and I can only use the components if I launch it in Columns UI instead of Default User Interface
>>
>>68915872
Also Columns UI does not have a component that displays the library with album art, there just isn't one.

You just get album art in the playlists or the album art of the currently playing song

Foobar is such as massive waste of time and no matter how much shit I swim through it never ends up doing what I want it to
>>
>>68915872
Then just remove the components you don't want, default Columns UI isn't that different from the default presets.
You should be able to edit it freely like default and still have all the default components, take a screenshot or something.
>>
>>68912437
>make up random name
>download stuff
>get shitlisted
>repeat
>>
>>68915998
I don't want to use Columns UI though, it's bad

The editing is a pain in the ass because the splitters aren't physically there and you can't open a scratchbox like in Default, it's not about the way it looks visually.

also refer to this >>68915958 there is literally no point of using Columns if it doesn't even do the album art correctly

What I'm looking for is a component like Facets that shows the whole library as a grid of album art with title, but that can't do caching
>>
>>68916065
Then try MusicBee or some shit if you don't mind lag
>>
>>68912608
>Good only if you are mainstream listener
Or if you ever feel like listening to anything that isn't pop music. Soulseek's collection of art music is really patchy.
>>
>>68912229
>AIMP

Looks pretty shit, apparently you can't add a folder to be monitored as your library like you can with literally any other music player.

Is this thing made for people that just have a bunch of single .mp3's scattered about there computer and if they want to listen to it they click on the file?
>>
>>68913781
