I don't actually know what's gone into getting that so high...I don't think I listen to a lot of musicals and off the top of my head, the only musical I'm really crazy about is West Side Story.
>>68914535
ah okay
>>68914536
which show tune things specifically do you like
>>68914635
this list is just about what you've rated, it doesn't take into account what you rated it. so if you were to rate 50 crunkcore albums .5 or 1 star, it'd still be your top genre

>>68914654
Are there 50 crunkcore albums though? Gotta ask the real questions man.
>>68914642
I donno...I really like Sweeney Todd as well? Maybe it's all the 60s pop stuff like Harry Nilsson, Harpers Bizarre and Van Dyke Parks that have influences from show tunes? Maybe some jazz albums that have covers too? I don't even know if rym labels that stuff as show tunes though.
>>68914654
Clearly I've listened to way more musicals than I thought I had but yeah, I guess most of them I've heard are pretty meh-shite so they're not sticking out in my mind.
>>68914657
Ugh, Bernstein is just the best. His recording of The Rite of Spring is a strong contender for the best thing I've ever listened to.
Also:
His cast recording>>movie soundtrack
Favourite song is probs either Tonight or A Boy Like That.
>>68914720
>>68914770
Thanks!
>>68914770
If you mean the Jimmy Smith album, organ is a big turn off for me. If you mean the Louis Armstrong one I only listen to that occasionally because smiling that much hurts my cheeks.

RYM has 46 of em, I think we can reasonably assume there's at least 4 myspace-only albums that weren't added to the site out there, so I'd say yes, there are.

>His cast recording>>movie soundtrack
I haven't listened to the cast recording desu
but the music is great
>His recording of The Rite of Spring is a strong contender for the best thing I've ever listened to
Will have to check that one out sometime then. The Boulez one I listened to is p great.
>Tonight or A Boy Like That
Tonight is also one of my favorites. I don't like A Boy Like That as much but it's still a good track.

>I don't like A Boy Like That as much but it's still a good track
The Boulez arrangement really neuters that track. The Bernstein recording has Maria and Anita singing this really intense and dissonant fugal passage where Anita is following the more dark and aggressive harmony with the orchestra but Maria is almost singing a completely different tune against it trying to convince her. Makes the bit where they end up singing together at the end a lot more potent imo.
>>68914846
I really prefer It's Hard to Find a Friend. It appeals to more of my taste and they were better before they really delved into electric.
>>68914944
eh. Really didn't like that Even Oxen album. Don't really understand why everyone loves it so much. Probably one of my least favorite albums I've listened to from this year (which admittedly isn't many at all.)
>>68915249
Gotcha. I've only heard the two, but I thought the songwriting and especially the lyrics were a notch above on Control.

How can you not have Electronic as your first? Fucking everything is a child of Electronic
